I just watched a video of Craig Jones and he said volk does want to have his surgery and still fight Islam in Abu dhabi "where Islam probably has some unspoken privileges that we've been told we're not allowed to talk about"

I guess it all depends on how well volk's recovery goes. As a volk fan, I'd rather him not rush it and just fight Topuria in December and then think of LW after that.

At this point, is there any reason for Islam to accept the Volk rematch? If he beats him again people will refer to this FUD from Volk's team and claim he only won because corrupt Arabs paying evil Dana to overlook IVs... He gains nothing... He certainly gained nothing from the first fight , just people criticising him for defending his belt against a FW

Well, yes. It is human nature and the end of the day; it's there whether acknowledged or not. Besides, Usman is a dork that reps Nigera, nothing particular wrong with siding with Colby over him, maybe Liddell vs Rampage would be a better example.

Anyway, I'm white and can talk from personal experience. It's not really about being scared to say it aloud, because I had a hard time to acknowledge this to myself, and had to wrestle with these concepts for years before I came to terms with it. You are literally struggling with concepts that are morally taboo, and to acknowledge their truth makes you in a sense an apostate; it truly was a great, often disturbing, moral undertaking to acknowledge what all people of all places of all times have pretty much taken for granted. And you know what, I'm not even American, but European; meaning, that this ideology really was an alien export, inorganic and ill fitting to my own people and our history. Tbh, I’m starting to think Islam should just decline the Volk fight if his team behaves like this, there is zero upside. He’ll either be accused of cheating, of getting preferential treatment, and if nothing else works they’ll just say Volk is smaller so what islam did isn’t impressive. Fuck em, let Volk stay at FW then. Islam can beat Oliveira, then another contender (arman or Gamrot) then call for a fight w/ Leon if he still has the belt. That would be more than enough to build an undeniable legacy.

Identity has always been a huge part of combat sports fandom. Mexicans love to watch Canelo, Irishmen love to watch Conor, black folks love to cheer for Floyd. People enjoy watching boxers/mma artists who they can relate to and share something in common with, it’s baked into the DNA of combat sports. So there is absolutely nothing weird in Muslims taking an interest in Khabib, he’s a devout Muslim and other devout Muslims can relate to him. You guys are the ones that made it seem weird when it’s perfectly normal.

Conor Mcgregor is an embarrassment to his fellow country men. Not because of his losses, most fighters go through losses, but rather the way he conducts himself. He will never be loved and respected as someone like Katie Taylor who is a true Irish athlete

They don’t have any advantages that Volk wouldn’t have in Australia, or Oliveira wouldn’t have fighting in Brazil. People think there’s something underhanded going on because rich “shady” Arabs must be doing something sinister, it’s just racism dude.

Yup it's like Islam has only ever fought in Abu Dhabi and whenever he has won it's been by courtesy of a crooked ref or judge, weight advantage or because "it's his home ground". The fact that most of his fights are in USA is purposely lost on these sore losers.

This is highly disingenuous, almost every fighter spends the first part of their career fighting at home because you start your pro career in a LOCAL mma promotion. Post UFC islam has mostly fought on the road aside from once in St.Petersburg and a couple times in Abu Dhabi.

This is a perfect example of haters holding Islam to unreasonably high standards that they won’t hold any other fighter to. Islam had to leave Russia in his early twenties, learn an entirely new language, and be away from family for months on end. Whereas every American mma contender/ranked fighter got to sleep in their own bed with their wives and girlfriends and fight in their own country. But yet islam is the privileged one? Loooool.

Since this a Charles mocking thread, I will take him for comparison.

He has 32 UFC fights and only 7 of them in Brazil.
