Why I despised Khamzat vs DDP

Homie he could have remained in that same crucible until this point we are talking and I would be so impressed but want to watch it more than 2 minute stretches? FUCK NO
Agree. Impressive as fuck, wouldn't wanna watch. Like a Belal or Merab fight.

I believe Khamzat broke records for strikes landed and did next to no damage. No matter how you slice it being a dominant wrestler and holding someone in position and throwing a bajillion pitter patter punches is wrestling masked with weak gnp. There isn’t a soul that believed DDP a superior wrestler. It in many ways feels like Khamzat nullified a fight actually occurring until the clock ran out. What Khamzat was doing could have gone on another 10 rounds with neither man hurt so how the hell is that not nullifying a fight occurring? Imagine if Jones did the same shit instead of hellbows how much more he would be hated?
99% of the mma fanbase has no interest in watching a wrestling match or wrestling would have a much bigger fanbase. Nobody wants to hear Dick Mcdojo telling you because you don’t watch grappling sports for entertainment you are a casual when you actually grappled lol. Grappling is great to train but boring as fuck to watch. I daydreamed during wrestling meets in high school until it was my match. Perhaps after 2 minutes just take a fucking point from DDP and stand the fucking fight up. IMO that has to be implemented in Chimaev fights because he will keep that same strategy of turning potential epic fights to wrestling matches. I hated watching it with zero apologies

Well maybe that's just how things stand: elite wrestling + solid MMA skills > a well rounded generalist MMA fighter. Maybe it has been proven that wrestling is the best martial art....at least in case you're very good at it. Someone would more martial arts knowledge should shine light onto this.

I say we ban the crucifix position. You show me an exciting finish and I'll show you 4 boring non finishes.

Ah, what a boring fight, I won't be excited for his next fight. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but he's not Khabib.
Meh Lhabib usually didnt do much serious damage either he wasnt getting those either. Honestly Khsmzat has the much better finish rate and usually better watching . Khabib just finished his last 3 with chokes. Before was mostly decisions he gets more credit than he should as mostly Khabib wasnt entertaining either. He just only fought once a year so it seemed better .

Sure mate. You can have your opinion.

I agree that Kmat did as much (or more), to prevent an entertaining and violent fight from happening, as he did to ensure we saw one, and DDP deserves even less credit and more scorn. Holding someone down in a body lock so they simply can not fight you for 25 minutes is not far removed from runnung away from someone for 25 minutes so they simply can not fight you. It is a shame that Khamzat has sunk so far from where he once was. There was a time when we thought Kmat would fight regularly, not monthly, but often. We thought he would produce 1st round knock out or submissions. Since his first two fights we have seen one pre existing injury fight stoppage, and 3 decisions, the most recent being widely panned as Borzing.
What? Since his first two fights, he has a one punch KTFO of GM3, a wildly entertaining 1st round strangulation of Li where he dangled his body in midair while talking to Dana, a complete first round destruction of Kevin Holland in 90 seconds, a UFC HOF worthy war with Burns…. Seriously, you sound incredibly biased lmao.

I'm a fan of both fighters and I also enjoyed the hell out of that fight. Personally I don't mind watching someone absolutely dominate the other fighter even when it's grappling based because I can appreciate the skill discrepancy. DDP just had nothing for him. To be locked up in a crucifix for that long across four rounds is nothing short of absolute dominance. That's part of mixed martial arts, the fight can take place anywhere and you need to prepare appropriately imo. Dudes are just going to have to figure him out or figure out a way to counter that style. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Edit: I also think a lot of fans are now getting more easily butthurt about this kind of stuff now that betting is involved. Personally I think it is hurting the sport more than helping it.
I do enjoy betting but I agree. When it starts to influence general opinnion it becomes a problem.
