I think he's a very immature man despite his great career. He's socially awkward, he still has that "I was bullied in elementary and high school" vibe following him.

It's a good story and my favorite fighters wear their emotions on their sleeve when it comes to family sport. But at the end of the day this sport doesn't care how good a husband or father you are. The best fighter will always win.
 
It gained him a shit ton of fans.. I'm surprised more fighters aren't taking that angle. There are much bigger anime fans in the UFC than Izzy who's only watched a few main stream series.

Well of course taste is subjective to a degree, but I think I'll still get on my soapbox and vouch for it. I'm not sure I would have liked the original, filler-full cut if I wasn't like 12 or younger and it wasn't a different time 20+ years ago. I have rewatched the remastered series (Kai) a few times and even currently am watching it with my girlfriend, who has never seen it before. Imo it holds up. One great thing is that several of the scenes/cut away stills are literally painting+ quality. Almost movie like production value throughout. And at its roots it's about fighting. Many of these newer anime that purport to be "super deep" kinda miss the mark to me. A lot of them are essentially trying to do Dragon Ball again. And it's hard to discount how much influence Dragon Ball has had on basically all media/culture at this point (and especially anime)

That said of course there are other good anime/manga. DB is the goat to me still

I mostly read manga.

Enjoying anime or whatever is no more or less valid than, say, listening to Joe Rogan’s podcast religiously. To each his own. Live and let live. Power to him. Not everything or everybody is or going to be relatable to you.
