Why does Craig Jones get so much hype for being the best anti-wrestling coach in the UFC?

Overall Craig is a net positive for Australias grappling... but he does have an ego which is not healthy... or maybe its just an act

Not all of Craig Jones techniques translate successfully into MMA.

In Firas Zahabi's post fight breakdown, he criticized JDM's over reliance on the octopus guard, a Craig Jones invention. This is a niche position, but isn't meant to be your grappling base.

He also tried and failed with other Craig Jones maneuvers like the buggy choke.

Craig Jones deserves credit for helping JDM with his sub defense, but some of his techniques are gimmicky and don't work outside of BJJ.
You can't blame a coach for a fighter's failings. JDM didn't follow the game plan. He stayed in half guard when their entire camp was about not staying there and instead conceding position, because the octopus guard doesn't work well from the half guard.

Even Firas said the buggy choke is a good defense against the darce and later on it was an obvious last, desperate attempt when nothing else was working. How's that Craig's fault?

Craig Jones is a professional butt scooter with a big mouth and zero meaningful fighting experience. He’s essentially an Aussie Dillon Danis.

His claim to fame is training Australias best fighters to go 0-3 against Makhachev.

Maybe one day he’ll learn some real efficient MMA wrestling. Send Craig Jones 2-3 years to Dagestan and forget.

Nah, the Craig Jones Invitational (at least the first one) was one of the best things to happen in the grappling scene in many years and he's legitimately one of the best jiu-jitsu players in the world. It's ridiculous to put him in the same sentence as a Dillon Danis.

Whether he should be the go to guy for MMA grappling specifically is certainly debatable.

Jdm should have brought in a high level wrestling coach and learned how to sprawl
