Because endurance is relative to frequency. Stick a runner in a pool, they will get tired. Stick a swimmer on a track, same thing.
Cardio seems to be extremely specific to what it's used for.
Example, I have some experience boxing, but will gas in 1 min if I strike with any sort of effort. I have no experience wrestling, and will gas out in 10 seconds if I go for a takedown. However, I can clinch wrestle for several minutes with serious effort. Makes no sense. Perhaps it's because I enjoy clinch wrestling over shooting for the leg?
Why do people in this thread talk like the runners came to the gym for first time and gassed it means they have bad cardio?
Of course he will gas because his body is not used to it.
But every guy that trained for a time and did running had excellent cardio in my experience.
You can do both you know, sport training in the evening and running in the morning
It's because wrestlers already know how to run and work the muscles used in running during a wrestling workout. Most runners have zero knowledge on wrestling and grappling. Not only are they inefficient and lacking in technique, they haven't trained a lot of the muscles needed for wrestling.Runners gas in wrestling faster than wrestlers gas in running because wrestling is more cardio demanding than running
If you wrestled in the am AND
pm instead of running you would have EVEN BETTER cardio
Unless you want to be a runner specifically you shouldn't run for cardio for any other sport because running is a very specific activity that builds a specific type of cardio and is a waste of time for those of you who want to develop cardio for other sports
Logistics sometimes conspire to make it impossible to train with a partner so in those instances you should hit bags, do sport specific polymerics like sprawl shoot drills or al least swim or ride a bike because they are better blast cardio then sustained jogging
Worked for my wrestling team...bigtime

It has nothing to do with wrestling, which can be a great cardio workout, being a better cardio workout than running. Your theory is easily debunked with a heart rate monitor.

Jogging is only a fraction of the cardio demand of wrestling
And its a completely different type of cardio
Unless you have competition AND coaching experience you probably dont understand the science behind athletic training and resort to the monkey see monkey do approach
In 100 years they will look back at the training methods of today the same way we look back 100 years in our current past and balk at all the silly crap they used to believe
You just keep running for cardio and i will keep WRESTLING for cardio and when we meet on the mat its gonna be apparent whos in better condition

Post your pics then. I've yet to see a single top tier physique in the thread I made. A couple pretty decent ones like @Felsh, @7even and @Bodil but all the supposedly biggest, strongest guys find excuses not to show their frame claiming it's gay or whatever.#notbig
