Yes, the biggest market for pro boxing is in US.
This doesn't mean that boxing wasn't imported in US territory exactly from Europe.

Mother and father lands for a professional boxing are in Europe.
U.K, Ireland, France.
There are also Portugal, Spain, Italy etc. Not only these former soviet union countries & soviet block about what ppl are crying in forums.
And more than this: modern version of sport boxing was imported in Russia from France ...in time when Russia was monarchy with capitalism.
Yes, they had these old bareknuckle stuff xxxx years ago but boxe was known in old ancient europe before Christ too.

& Amateur boxing is a bit too disrespected in countries where plenty of dreamers read about these xxx millions that some world top superstars does have.
Nobody is able to prohibit dreams and illusions.

If earlier european games had Soviet Union with his quotas ( how many athletes for each weight class country is allowed to place in tournament….
Now, happy end and Happiness...SU fall, all world is happy.
Now they place athletes from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia. More countries, more athletes in championships.
& For amateur KB let's OK, at least their concurrence is less dominating cos Baltic countries too had/ have not bad ammy KB guys and somethimes happens some good ammy boxers from them in tournaments. Greece& Cyprus too have not bad KB guys.

I think you’re on the right track but burying the lead. The lack of government investment in amateur boxing is part of the problem, maybe even the main part, but I think there are other factors at play.

I think part of the problem is cultural in so far as many white parents avoid putting their kids in sports where they have to directly compete with Black people. You see this even in “America’s pass time,” Football, where White dudes congregate at quarterback and non-skill positions like Lineman and avoid the athleticism and speed based positions like Receiver, Running Back, and Defensive Back.

This is also visible in basketball which is why the best white basketball players nowadays tend to be from Europe.

The College Scholarship thing is definitely part of it, as the University system and promise of a free education sucks up a lot of the athletic talent in this country, but its only part of the issue. It’s a symptom of the problem -- and not the problem itself. Tl/DR White yanks have by and largely grown soft.

The next “great white hope” American Heavyweight will likely be Hispanic.

I played football on a state championship team and there's no question that blacks are faster than whites and that's why they dominate those positions despite the massive public investment in Grassroots football throughout our nation's public school system largely thru White america

So I think because blacks have physical advantages for running positions they Excel in those positions despite whites having plenty of opportunity so they outcompete in football and basketball largely because those Sports emphasize a certain body type

Boxing and wrestling is a different story as the sports don't reward a certain body type as much as basketball and football

access is the biggest issue

low-cost high-quality acess to Combat Sports training is dissapearing

there was a time in our nation's history that every private school and University had a gym coach that taught the kids boxing
and wrestling and the public universities and Ivy League schools had boxing teams that actually competed on a university level

these programs have largely been removed from Nation's school system and without access athletes no matter what their skin color will not be able to develop the skills required to compete at the international professional level at the same rate as before

no wonder we see these kinds of numbers coming out of the Olympics

most of our PUBLIC Grassroots programs are gone (tax funded community centers) having been replaced by high-end risk-averse facilities with high rates or the strip mall down in the Kmart Plaza in jerkwater Alabama
