So i came across this video of old and new lifters and it got me thinking....the older guys looked so much better than the new bodybuilders. Im into very heavy lifting but like 95% of guys out there, i want to look good as well! Just looking that the old guys like franco, arnold, draper and platz, you want to train and look like them so much more than the new guys like jay cutler and ronnie. I just think the old guys had it down...they lifted hard, trained hard and looked great all year round!! What do you think?

clearly Dave Tate will never train to be a BB but health and asthetics are important. I love the world of powerlifting more than alot of people but i dont agree with the guts hanging over the lifting belt.

You are a fucking idiot. Tate trains for health now, not aesthetics. And very few powerlifters have"guts hanging over the lifting belt." The few that do are SHW.

Also, the "slack-jawed ***got" pulls 700, and has done 405x36. This is a STRENGTH & POWER forum. Take your man love to bb.com

I know it takes a shitload of hard work and dedication over many years to acheive that but I would feel ridiculous walking around like that.

I have no idea how some of these bodybuilders function in everyday life....i dont even think its possible!

Dude, here's my opinion -- I don't want to look like Arnold or Cutler. If I had to name a well-known pro bodybuilder whose physique I could tolerate it'd be Frank Zane, mainly because he looked like his muscles wouldn't have slowed him down much if he went out for a run or climbed a tree or something.

Do I like the fact that lifting has made me more muscular? Sure.

Do I train with aesthetics in mind? No, not unless it comes under the general rubric of "being fit" or "not wanting to carry around excess body fat." More than anything else I lift weights because I get off on defeating gravity.

I'd be perfectly happy if I could keep training and getting stronger, and never looked a bit different from the stocky, slightly pudgy bald old schlub I am tonight.

relax..i dont nuthug so your on your own with that. I know plenty of guys that have pulled close to or more than 700lbs so numbers dont impress me. And i have no problem calling those guys ***gots as well! But i always respect their knowledge and strength because obviously a guy who can pull 700lbs knows a thing or 2 about training.

Oh yeah, and as diaz pointed out, DJ pulled 700 and 675 for a beltless double at a lean 210ish, so first, you should know who you're calling names.

Here's your slack jawed ***got:

Dave Tate trains for aesthetics now...at least primarily...I also would argue that his transformation is the result of not eating like shit anymore rather than change in his training per se...

zerocrew will be in shortly to work you over...lol...

this thread still sucks...and lets get shit straight...go back to whereever you fucking came from....your thread sucks...and you suck by association...either make forum appropriate threads or stfu ....
