Before Jones' five round decision streak, he knew the best attack at the right time and got a lot of finishes of former champs.

In GSP vs Condit, GSP could have had the arm triangle a couple of times, but didn't go for it. Baiting Ping to try to get up and choking him unconscious was good.

Anderson Silva shouldn't really count because most of his opponents were scared shitless so he could do whatever he wanted.

Anderson clowned so hard it lost him fights. Weidman and Bisping should not have beat him. Amazingly poor fight IQ IMO.


GSP by far. Destroyed people where they were weakest. Made adjustments during the fight depending on what he encountered.

People mistake high fight IQ with having the best tool (double leg takedown and jan) in the game.

Mousasi - better part of 2 decades of fighting and as a predominant stand up fighter, still on pound for pound lists approaching 2022 and can take fight anywhere .

Jones- until he actually loses, a no brainer. The most incredible 8 year run period in the sports history. We just dont know where he is currently.

Honorable mention- Aldo , has been so adept on feet that we've had minor glimpses of his ground game. Hes on other side of career and in different class which speaks more about his amazing prime.

Why Khabib? All of his fights he just dives for the legs almost right from the start. Sure he is one of the best examples of safety first fighting but I dont think its because of fight IQ.
Some fighters are just more afraid to get hit than others.
