Who has the Highest Fight IQ in MMA history?

Jones, but it's not instinctive fight IQ. It's preparation, preparation, preparation. He rises to the level of his opponents, purposely outclasses them where they're strongest, and completely dominates rematches.

For instinctive IQ, maybe BJ? He got his nickname because of how effortless his rise was - he just went in and made veterans look foolish, and without much work on his own part as far as I know.

Surprised by the picks in here.

Fedor is my fav fighter. That said, his fight IQ was low. He often fought to his opponents strengths despite having clear advantages in other areas. Look no further than the Maldonado bout, opting to stand and trade rather than taking the fight to the mat for much easier route to victory.

GSP, Khabib, and Jones are the highest level of fight IQ

Not to mention Fedor falling for Werdum's troll play pretending he was rocked and jumping right into the triangle armbar of the most dangerous HW BJJ guy on the planet while he was still dry. I love Fedor but that was the dumbest shit I've ever seen.

Anderson Silva in MMA.

Floyd in boxing.

Anderson clowned so hard it lost him fights. Weidman and Bisping should not have beat him. Amazingly poor fight IQ IMO.

GSP by far. Destroyed people where they were weakest. Made adjustments during the fight depending on what he encountered.

I would say Jones but he does stuff to get himself disqualified sometimes. Khabib knows what he is good at and does it.

Jones used to have great fight IQ but his arrogance has made him mentally fight IQ challenged. He’s facing a kickboxer? Let’s just kickbox, don’t try and take it to the ground, let’s prove I’m the better kickboxer. This is how Jones almost lost to Santos and how he lost to Reyes - he simply doesn’t use his skill set to secure a win. Very frustrating to watch someone be very competitive when you know they could take the opponent out of their comfort zone.

LOL MMA turds once again parroting BS myths about Jones as usual, lowest IQ fans in ALL of sports!

So Jones HIGH FIGHT IQ got him absolutely battered against Gus the first time, got him DQ'd from an illegal strike and battered on several more occassions, hospitalised from damage, assisted out of the octagon due to damage. Oh and when Jones clearly doesn't show this 'mythical' high fight IQ the excuse is he fought his opponents at their strength lmao, yeh let's fucking believe what Jones says him and his 'go get some fans' coaches, true gentlemen. Despite Mexico's entire pharmaceutical industry running through his veins, sanctioned eye pokes and judges as his last line of defence he still doesn't have the highest fight IQ.

This is what the pinnacle of fight IQ looks like:

A few guys that come to mind in no particular order:

-Jon Jones
-Mighty Mouse
-Henry Cejudo
-Daniel Cormier
-George St Pierre

No surprise they're all GOAT candidates.

Yup. GSP is the answer. None of that, "prove yourself by playing into your opponent's strength" BS.

Anderson is not the answer. He was more the type to fight wherever the fight goes and take chances. When you don't have the wrestling to control where the fight goes, you just have to be really good wherever it does go.
That’s why Jones was amazing. He’d fight a person with their strength and outwit them in that department.

GSP, he has the tools to adapt against all styles and he utilized them well, especially during his prime
