What's the reasoning for snatch grip on RDLs?

Mediocre, my upper back was toasted from those motherfucking power cleans. I got some instruction and apparently I'm doing them with a semblance of competence because I've never been sore like this in my upper back before (cuts of Mittens/Barut/smartass's by acknowledging that soreness is not necessarily an indicator of anything). Bench was a PR of some sorts regardless.

My laptop is F'ed in the A, hence no posting from home (unless I steal the wife's like right now). I was looking at some Toshiba Satellites and finding some good deals, heard good things, if anyone has any suggestions shoot them at me. For reference, I basically use it for watching/downloading/managing multimedia and surfing the web, so no gaming or anything. I want a decent sized hard drive & memory and Windows 7. And 15" screen minimum.

Nice benching and deads...I guess. Unless the deads were reset and the bench paused, I am not impressed.

What have you been doing for pRon? I bet that's what took out your laptop in the first place. Lulz.

Yes, deads were reset and bench paused. It's a Dell 9300 Inspiron, and I've had it for about 5 years now and used it constantly, so it did fairly well as far as big powerful laptops go. It died during a 5 hour It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia marathon.

This show is amazing. Great pulling and benching. I have nothing to say about computers, because I don't know shit about them.

Yeah Newegg seems to be the place.

I like TigerDirect. I bought an Acer from them a few months ago and I'm really happy with it. Make sure you shop through Ebates, as you'll get 3% back. Newegg only gets you 1.5%.

I've bought a lot of computer shit online. Newegg is the best, followed very closely by Zipzoomfly, and I've only ordered from TigerDirect twice.

/2 cents

ive always gone newegg, but maybe ill venture out

regardless.. very nice benching sir. i'm quite jealous.

10/21/09 - Metalacolypse Tour

Got there an hour before the doors opened, and we decided to wander around downtown Detroit. I've been in a lot of cities, but Detroit has the weirdest people ever. On one side of the street are people getting Mercedes valet parked, on the other people are selling crack. I haven't been assaulted by so many homeless people since I was in DC, and DC is mostly because they hang out in the tourist areas. Obviously a city on hard times. Found a bar and drank 3 or 4 Bell's Two Hearted on tap which was good.

High on Fire opened and was terrific. The Fillmore has a kickass PA and they were the loudest band I've ever heard. They launched into Fury Whip and it sounded like the world was being ripped in half. Their bass player needs to lay off the heroin or whatever he is on because he intermittently looked like he feel asleep on stage. Luckily Matt Pike is so overpowering it doesn't really matter. They played a song off their next album, "Frost Hammer", that brought the place to a near riot. Top notch.

Converge played next. I don't think anyone has any idea why they are on this tour, or not opening, I don't think anyone came to see them. It was your typical mathcore masturbation, play random notes while doing karate kicks and the lead singer runs around and makes dry heaving sounds into the microphone. Thankfully it was short. On the plus side at least he stayed positive and thanked the crowd a lot. I felt kind of bad for them because this isn't their audience.

Mastodon came on shortly after. I had seen clips on Youtube of them playing pieces from Crack the Skye earlier this year and prepared to be disappointed, but they have tightened it up and improved 100 fold. They played Crack the Skye in it's entirety like a well oiled machine and the crowd was really into it. The accompanying video was freaky as hell and made it feel like an acid trip. Brent Hinds looked like a raving lunatic the whole time, I'm glad I was on his side of the stage. Afterwards they played some older stuff, and included Mother Puncher in the encore which was superb. They got a huge reaction and were probably the high point of the night.

Dethklok played last. Brendon Small has some serious chops and the accompanying videos were pretty funny, but they aren't really all that exciting to watch. They pretty much stood there and went through the motions. Considering his profession is TV show writer/creator I'll give him a pass. They hit all the songs people wanted to hear and played them all flawlessly and gave some serious laughs in between songs with his voices. The younger crowd was all their to see them and loved it. I guess being an adult and watching cartoons makes me different.

All in all it was a good time, and worth seeing.

10/22/09 - Thursday - Squat

Box Jumps:
36"x3x5

Back Squat:
135x10
225x5
315x3
405x1
-working sets-
455x1x4

245x6
275x6

Good Morning:
185x10x3

Calf Raise:
400x15x3

I've been procrastinating on what to do for the past two weeks and have been just winging it. I guess I will copy Mittens, when in doubt that always seems to work best. Felt good to put a lot of weight on the bar. I need to hit that 1500 so after all the rep work I have done, the singles should make my strength take off.

Today I made two predictions to Brian.
1) That I would pass him on the bench press sometime next year.
2) That by the end of next year, 531 would be old and busted on Sherdog and the Hepburn plan would be the new hotness.
