Whiskey, War, Suicide, and Guns

1/3/11 - Monday - Squat

Back Squat:

worked up to 495 and then shut it down because the inside of my right knee felt explodey. I walked a whole lot over the weekend in Chicago which made me sorer than I'd like to admit.

Awesome.

It's a technical term, those of you without PhD's might not understand it.

Did events last Saturday and squatted/deadlifted Monday.

Great workout. I was pretty pumped about crushing the dumbell. My tech is dialed in pretty good, didn't even need much shoulder strength to lock it out. My left shoulder is more inflexible than my right which makes pressing from that side a disaster. The 150 regular DB is wider and smaller diameter than the Circus DB so it takes a longer ROM to press it out and the COG is further from your centerline. So I should dominate the 153 Circus in the contest.

^That's interesting. I'm very right-side dominant in most respects, but with heavy unilateral dumbbell work (snatches, presses, etc.), I'm at least as good, if not better, on my left side. Have no idea why that is.

Although, when I did my first (and so far only) strongman contest, my instinct was to grab the dumbbell with my right hand anyway, even though I'm probably a bit worse with it.

That's a little odd. I know in lower body unilateral work, my left leg feels stronger usually.
