My parents visited S. Africa maybe 10 years ago with some British friends. They loved it! It was one of their favorite vacations they have taken.

Today with all the negatives things happening in S. Africa, I don't believe I'd want to take a trip there. It is a country I'd personally avoid.

Outside of that, I'm not familiar with any other country in Africa that could be a good vacation spot. Africa is often mentioned for its many rich natural resources, not for being a vacation mecca.

Sitting here thinking about where to go to next in 26, and I’m really wanting to visit sub-Saharan Africa, since I’ve never been to that part of the world. Go back to the birthplace of us all(I think so at least) and feel the soil between my toes.

Have you been? Do you want to go? If so, where did you go, or where would you choose? Not interested in making this a “Africa is a dump” type of discussion. If you hated it, or wouldn’t go, that’s fine, but I want some more positive thinking in here, if that’s possible… this is Sherdog after all.

Thinking about Kenya or Uganda, but not super familiar with the continent and its little quirks, but I’ve been feeling this “pull” inside telling me to go for the last few years. Sounds strange, but it’s what it is.

Morroco, Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia always looked really cool to me

Really? I often hear Kenya suggested for vacations. If anything Kenya is a little too commercial and mainstream for safari adventures, you have to go further south for a more authentic experience.

A lot of my friends say Lamu island is a good destination.

I have already visited South Africa (have family in Pretoria), and have visited both Egypt and Tunisia, but as a child, so I'd like to revisit as an adult. Morocco and Algeria look like beautiful countries with great cuisine. I would also like to see some of the wildlife and planes in central/southern Africa. Maybe Botswana, Kenya or Zimbabwe.
