Which African country do you wish to visit?

I worked in the African market for a couple of decades, never had the opportunity to go unfortunately. Well I did but never followed it though

Zimbabwe might be my first stop, then Malawi, Namibia have awesome beer as does Kenya. Ghana and Nigeria obviously, Tanzania and Zanzibar. Zanzibar comes highly recommended

I live in Kenya. It's not too bad here. I live in a nice spot with a nice safari nearby, so during tourist season there are people coming from all over the world. But also there are lots of foreigners/westerners around who live here permanently. Most people here speak at least decent English. In the big cities there is some decent shopping. Places like Mombasa on the coast have really beautiful beaches and resorts and are worth a visit for sure. Food/Restaurants are up and down, it's tough finding places that consistently provide quality. I go on safari and yeah, you see a lot of cool animals like elephants and rhinos up close. Kenyan people by and large are very nice and friendly, but you gotta be a little guarded because they do steal and grift when they get a chance (There is a lot of terrible poverty here too). Weather is always pretty decent, it's hot and sunny most days but not too humid. It's a beautiful country with lots of impressive scenery. I'd say it's one of the better tourist destinations in Africa for sure.
Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam were the two main ports I dealt with in Africa, I have a ton of connections out there from locals to ex pats to a few criminals. Used to have a guy send me pallets of Tusker when he was returning goods in a container. Coffee was awesome too

If you ever shipped anything from the UK to Mombasa there is a good chance I was involved somehow

Yeah we deal with some guys in Mombasa all the time, we buy a lot of vehicle parts there

In Kenya you meet a ton of people and inevitably become friends with criminals<{yearp}>I know quite a few. They're useful people to be friends with tbh

If you're buying vehicle parts then I guarantee we have some of of the same connections, I used to ship hundreds of truck heads, trucks and trailers, plant equipment etc each month. And a load of containers full of (usually stolen) car and truck parts. China is running things these days with vehicles and parts though

A lot of the guys I dealt with had Safari businesses

Would like to go back to Egypt as an adult, Morocco would also be cool. Don’t think I’m ready for Sub-Saharan Africa just yet.

How does one go from Medicine Hat to Kenya?

Pretty basic answer (and not sub Saharan at any rate), but Egypt.

I really want to see that massive new museum in Egypt.

And I want to get eat around Morocco.

No real interest in sub Saharan Africa though. Not much of a nature guy

Egypt

...........Or Liberia if I can get a tour from General Butt Naked

I’ve heard the scammers are out of control and you’re going to get ripped off badly and the government is not exactly tourist friendly. Any other reasons?

Let's just say there was a misunderstanding and I had to leave the country, fake my death and start a new life far away. Please don't mention my past in Canada bro
Should have just moved to Alaska imo

I’ve been to underdeveloped countries and understand those impoverished need to make a buck selling a bracelet etc but It’s not just the scammers in Egypt. It is EVERYONE from the moment you arrive at the airport the taxi drivers won’t leave you until you give up.

Check points , airport personnel, hotel employees, police are all trying to swindle you. It is not worth it brother. Any positive experience will be remarkably overwhelmed by all of this.

Yes that’s kind of what I heard as well. I only went there once 30 years ago, when I was 7, and recall getting warned by people at the airport that you will get scammed and never pay for anything up front or you’ll be paying twice. I’ve also seen it being in the news quite a bit lately for how bad they treat tourists there but I’d still love to go at least once more as an adult to appreciate the history a bit more. Probably would not be for a minimum of 15 years anyways as I wouldn’t go there with young children and my wife has zero desire for any type of travel outside of Hawaii.
