Already been to Thailand and always wanted to go to Vietnam. I know a lot of Vietnamese folks so maybe that's influences me. Also, Anthony Bourdain loved it
He loved everything SE Asian. Saw his books on my shelf earlier and might consider reading agin, his drawl reading them in his accent on the way to meeings to London was so soothing. Pretty sure they took twice as long to read.

Want to visit Thailand but Ive heard so much “ladyboy” talk for years I lost some interest. still would go though lol

Vietnam would be a good visit

I visited 3/4 on this list. I think it really depends on how much time I have. You can probably speedrun Singapore in 3 days. I used to go there for visa runs. It is a nice bubble to raise a famiry but it can get boring real fast.

Tough choice. I'll pick Philippines because it's less common a place to travel than Thailand but seems similar plus you can swim with whale sharks...

This is a harder choice because I've been to all of them and I'd visit all of them again. Except Singapore. It's a small city state that's more expensive. If you like fancy modern stuff, it's good for a couple days.

It's such a shame that's the reputation the country has. It's because too many people go to Bangkok and head straight to Khaosan road or Soi Cowboy. But it's an entire country so there's so much more to see than these two streets. It's like going to Austin and thinking all of Texas is like Austin.
Guys talk about ladyboys and bar girls ripping them off, but I have not once had an encounter like this after years of going to Thailand because I hang out at different scenes.

You can technically see whale sharks in many parts of the world if you can scuba, but you have to be lucky. In Oslob, which is the place you're talking about, they throw bait to attract the sharks so there's some ethical controversy.

I used to live in Thailand, and it really is a shame how tourists think Thailand is just those 2 roads, hookers, and lady boys.
Even Bangkok has so much more, let alone the rest of the country.

If you're looking for sleaze, hookers, and cheap liquor, it's easy to find, but that's certainly not the only time to be had in Thailand.
At the same time, I guess I should be grateful that tourists tend to flock to the same places because that the nicer places are less crowded and tainted.

I don't have the stomach for it. Everyone I know had to mainline Immodium most days. Add in oppressive humidity and I'll take the Caribbean or Greece instead.

I never went to Bangkok and only spent from the airport to the dock in Phuket. I stayed in the Phang Nga Bay on a some island, kayaked (me, not six people with a guide rowing) through caves into island lagoons, hiked on a bunch of islands, went to some mostly Muslim town/village, gave an Elephant a bath, saw a giant tree and generally just chilled.

It's funny now because I recognize the area in movies a lot. Jurassic World Rebirth being one. They love to show in the middle of the bay with all the little islands peaking through fog it seems.

I've been to all but Singapore and for the poll I put Thailand as it's the most fun.

Singapore.... No thanks it's just a little place and everything is very expensive....

Vietnam..... Wasn't for me.....

Philippines....... I've got little interest

Thailand, I've travelled around the place alot and I like the people and food, it's got everything you could want in one place......huge temples to Go go bars and everything in-between........ Love watching the boxing there and watching the chain smoking men gamble......

I love Thailand. If I didn't have so much family in the USA id probably retire right now and move to Thailand

I'd like to visit Vietnam particularly the Da Nag and Chu Lai areas to see where my uncle humped a pig in the bush during the war.

Of all of SE Asia, I only haven't visited Myanmar at present, Phillippines was my favourite I think. Dark horse mentions for Laos and Malaysia, neither of which get the same amount of love as the bigger names.

Philippines only because I have never been while I have visited the other three during a 3 month backpacking trip I did to SE Asia back in 2007.
