Probably the biggest match up of actors since De Niro / Pacino in the film Heat.

I doubt it will ever happen, but it would be amazing to imagine.

Any other actor match up you'd say would be more hype than this?

DDL is becoming overrated around here.

He's a great actor but he's not miles above the other great actors of his generation.

Acting is not a competitive sport. But if Oldman and DDL did a movie together I think some people would be analyzing their performances to death and comparing them against each other instead of just enjoying the movie.

Would end up being a dud. Like that other Pacino DeNiro film, righteous kill or whatever

Waltz and DiCaprio in DU is one of the best examples of "2 greats going head up" in a movie. More or less stole the show

That's a high possibility indeed, that people will dissect their acting thoroughly in how they did together. But if the movie is great it will be secondary the magnifying of each actors performances imo.

It really depends on the script and the whole film.

But it would be just a legendary as Pacino and De Niro were in the same scene for the first in Heat.

I'd love to see it. And there is no winners or losers here imo. We all win to see these masters at their craft acting together in a hopefully a masterpiece of a film.

The difference it would be the first time these two legendary together in a film, just like how Heat was for De Niro and Pacino.

And that became a masterpiece of a film.

So I don't think it would be a dud, again depending on script and overall movie. Has to be worthwhile to do.

Btw DDL is not miles ahead of his fellow actors of his generation. I'd say he's equal to Oldman and just above Denzel, Tom Hanks and Sean Penn. But not miles ahead like you say.

I like oldman better, he seems less pretentious and willing to have fun. The script and director would dictate the power a film featuring those 2, in my opinion

Exactly it all depends on that. Well said.

This, it'd be too distracting imo.

I should have said "could" be a dud instead of "should"
DDL is goated and all, but give me Michael Shannon and oldman or Skaarsgard and Defoe or something?

I'm like @Fedorgasm
Just nowhere near as high on DDL as most. GONY, TWBB and maybe the Boxer. After that I lose interest almost immediately. Give me Javier Bardem vs Harrelson again if we're talking matching guys head up

I will say this - DDL is a very selective actor. Had he been more active I’m sure he’d have less impressive performances. Oldman has maintained his acting chops with consistency so I go with him.
