I've been a fan since 2016-2017, didn't watch his fights prior to that live. Never thought he'd get this far though.. I'm English also.

Most threads on him in my time here have been scathing, i'm also surprised at the mostly positive reaction to his win, I wonder if it'd be the same had he beaten someone more likeable than Usman like 2019 Masvidal for the title.

MMA has some of the biggest bandwagoners, dickriders and gloryhunters out there. It's cringe and really pathetic. I'm happy for Leon and said he had a real shot winning this fight but I'm not gonna pretend I was ever a fan of his or am now.

Yeah as one of the few on here who have been telling people Edwards is elite for a few years now I've been surprised at how much support he had both in the build up and the aftermath in this fight.

It was scummy as hell when most of Sherdog treated Masvidal as a cult hero for what amounted to assaulting Edwards backstage and then defended Mas ducking him to go and fight for a fake belt and then somehow the real belt twice.

I have always defended Leon, I understood that his fights might not be as exciting but when he is on the offensive he has very clean technique in his striking.
Its just that even if you are some mouthbreathing hating kid you cant deny what just happened

This happens sometimes when a rival fanboy group is happy about the outcome of a fight. They pretend to be fans of the guy who knocked him out. In this case Leon Edwards.

He’s one of the most humble and nicest guys, very down to earth. He was disrespected and just knocked out the #1 P4P guy who was dominant and undefeated in the ufc. That’s why I’m a fan including the way he did it from behind.

I can't say I'm very "Rah Rah" about many fighters, but I also just didn't understand the hatred for him on here.

I thought he handled the 3 piece and a soda situation well. He wasn't running around crying about it. He just called out Masvidal for a fight and never got a real response so he moved on. He also was the only one who seemingly wanted the Khamzat fight. Respeck.

Been saying he deserved the TS long before now. Those 6 canceled fights since Covid weren’t his fault. And I thought it was crap when the UFC stripped him of his 3 ranking until he agreed to fight Borz. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan, but I’ve never had anything against him. And I’m glad he won the title.

Guys I really try to hespetch every fighter but Usman just wasn’t it for me bruv. He’s an amazing athlete and great fighter but people that are so forced on the mic and not being who they really are just piss me the fuck off.

So to see a guy like that get knocked the fuck out is just very enjoyable to me. Edwards deserves a statue for this. Best of luck to both guys though. Usman has absolutely earned my respect.
