Where do you place Leon Edwards in GOAT WW list?

5. GSP
4. Tyron
3. Usman
2. Leon
1. Shavkat (assuming he wins the belt)

If we're talking achievement in their era, GSP, Hughes, Usman, Woodley, Lawler, Shields are ahead. Macdonald and Condit, probably not.

Skill-wise, I'd say current Leon is probably top 5, along with GSP, prime Hendricks, Lawler and prime Rory. But Leon hasn't really been tested enough yet - he can handle wrestlers without very good striking like Usman, pre-eyepoke Belal (give Belal his fking title shot!) and Colby (Colby wasn't off imo. He couldn't figure out how to close the distance because he couldn't strike with Leon to create TD opportunities), but what happens against a guy like Shavkat who can probably close the distance and force Leon to wrestle/judo/bjj and actually has very good striking even if he can't get/doesn't want a takedown?
I'd even like to see him against Wonderboy (bit too old now though), to see if he outstrikes him or can grapple to a decision. I reckon he has too much grappling for Geoff Neal and probably outstrikes him too, but it'd be interesting to see how he deals with Geoff's boxing angles.

The problem is Shavkat. He’s a beast I’m not sure can be stopped. 18 fights 18 finishes. I fear he’s going to be the limiting factor in any GOAT discussion for Leon.

I can’t wait to see how the WW landscape pans out. Belal im overlooking because he will be shut down like Usman was in the rubber match and like Colby was last time out. Leon will make it look easy.

Shavkat is clearly the one that Leon needs to worry about.

As to where he is in the GOAT list - too early as with most of these discussions. He’s got work to do but he can see him getting to number 2 behind GSP. Let’s see

You’re trolling right? Like I’m pretty sure you’re just messing around

Are you?

Colby has almost every top win usman has and most of them were first or more impressive the only top win usman has that colby does not is burns. and I guess leon if you want to count it but it was long ago and irrelevant to where either one of them is ranked currently.

Its the only true and fair way to judge over several eras ...
I dont think so. Not all title defenses are equal. some are worth more than others. someone with 5 can be higher than some one with 7

title defenses in number are important, but context trumps everything.

Well first off I don’t think colby beat RDA so there’s that, I will give you beating Maia more impressively but he beat washed woodley who had just gotten 50-45d two fights in a row, lawler who had gotten 50-45d then choked out by askren, masivdal who got dominated and then finished by usman, the guy doesn’t have any wins over fighters coming off a win since he beat DHK and DHK had a controversial fight just before colby.

colby has no signature wins against anyone in their prime

stopped there, That's enough. I'm good on this conversation.

GSP
Hughes
Kamaru/Edwards/Fitch

Gets a bit murky after that.
