I suspect Shawshank's reputation is a victim of it's own success. So many people love it and rave about it it turns a lot of other people off, because at the end of the day it's "really good" not "great".

I think it's a better film on first watch than it is on re watch. I also thought the ending would have been better if Morgan sets off to find Tim and we are left wondering if he made it

Plus i hated the tunnel/pipe/rock break

It's a 7-8/10 film that too many people think Is a 10/10 film and it's not

I agree with Ghostbusters. It’s an alright film, not amazing, I enjoy it. But when all the reboots came around people started acting like Ghostbusters was a sacred film too amazing to ever be touched upon again. It’s not.

I think Shawshank is very overrated.
I’ll add Forrest Gump and Titanic.

Pulp Fiction is fucking amazing, a bunch of you are on crack.

Most overrated that come to mind are movies that I actually like, but still feel the hype is wrong.

1. Terminator 2.

Why? It incorporated too much humor and silly jokes, a great departure from T1, which was the superior story.

2. Avatar.

The villains were stupid and mindless, but even worse was the blue alien Native Americans. They weren't really alien, just knock off Native Americans. Also, tired trope of the nature lovers being good guys and mankind being anti-nature to the point of genocide. Dumb.

3. Black Panther.

Nothing special about this movie. Wasn't bad, and it was fine watching it, but it only gets so much praise IMO because of white guilt people feeling that they need to help black people out by blowing smoke. Not even a Top 10 Superhero movie, but some put it on lists of greatest movies of the decade.

Avatar. I agree with the political message about Avatar and find it important but it took decades to make and stole the name from Avatar the Last Airbender. It holds the box office record.........because I don't know why it just does.
