Movies What's the 3 most overrated films of all-time?

Star Wars
There will be blood
Master and commander

Spider-Man 2

12 Years a Slave

The English Patient

For me, True Romance runs laps around the competition here. It is a massive piece of shit, predominantly because the lead is one of the least talented "movie stars" of all time who I rank right alongside the ilk of Freddie Prinze Jr., he is wholly not believable in the role that he is cast and aside from two very iconic scenes the movies is purely asinine. The bizarre, demented soundtrack does it no favors either. I do think the whole movie could've been salvaged greatly if they didn't cast such a bumbling deer in the headlights idiot to be some kind of unintentional bad ass.

Pulp Fiction
My #2.
Shaw
Shank
Redemption

Shawshank redemption is the most overrated film of all time and it's not even close
My #1.

Got into a LONG argument a LONG time ago about the laughable logical leaps in Andy's escape to believe its anywhere close to being anywhere close to being possible.

And that's not even the Top 5 main reasons why its a lame movie.
Interstellar
The most overrated SciFi film of all time.
There will be blood is top of the list.

Great acting and cinematography, but incredibly overrated and boring
Wholeheartedly agree.

I rented this, and 'Michael Clayton,' one weekend strictly because of the *Critical Acclaim* quotes on the DVD boxes, and they're two of the most boring movies I've ever seen. At no point in either movie did I care about anybody or anything happening on screen.

That's when professional critics completely lost all credibility with me.
Black Panther
Most overrated comic book movie of all time.

Seemed like everybody praised it specifically because if you don't praise it you're a racist.

So everyone praised it.

I'd have to say Oppenheimer more recently. Kind of wish I saw what everyone else saw in it.

Really tempted to say Roma, but I was in a theatre where everyone had really shit etiquette, and that ruined it more than anything. Need to watch that one again in my own space. That said, Cuaron makes GOAT tier scenes, but they always struggle to connect in his films as a whole.

Star Wars doesn't have the same magic it did when I was a kid.

I gotta agree with Avatar and Shawshank. After that its all of Marvel movies a decade of absolute trash.

I suspect Shawshank's reputation is a victim of it's own success. So many people love it and rave about it it turns a lot of other people off, because at the end of the day it's "really good" not "great".
It seems to be one of those movies thats cool to hate. I think its great but to each their own. I know people who hated it but put Maverick in their top 10. So it is what it is.

No list is accurate without The Dark Knight.
It does I think fit the pattern of being a "good" film which is elevated massively because it fits in with the tates/politics of the IMDB like crowd.

Basically very easy to consume blockbuster type films with a bit of a hit of substance which can be played up.

......absolutely & unconditionally!!!

Anything by the coen brothers.

Except buster Scruggs. That shit was great.

But Fargo, Lebowski, no country for old men. They all have their moments but they're not the masterpieces that people think they are.

I don't mind Slater, but I thought the film was kind of a mess and overall pretty bad, even if it had a few really great scenes and performances (Gary Oldman and Dennis Hopper)

Interstellar. I absolutely hated that film and everyone I know thinks it's a work of genius.

I think Slaters obnoxiousness works very well in that film(movie?) personally, he actually ends up pretty close to a better looking Tarantino.

Film is is definitely messy compared to QT's own films but again I think that almost plays into its story, that you have Tony Scott trying to turn it into a more conventional thriller romance again I think plays really well with that character story.
