What do you guys rate The Shawshank Redemption out of 10? Just curious thanks.

I don't dislike it, maybe 8/10?

Honestly I feel the same way about a lot of similar stuff from the 90's, films which were ultimately pretty generic Hollywood drama at the core, lots of stuff staring Hanks, Shawshank is arguebly the best of those kind of films I spose but still #1 on IMDB makes it the most overrated.

I liked Pulp Fiction.

I didn't gel with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at all.

It's a love letter to old Hollywood. Which really only weirdos who live in LA care about or think is cool. Celebs worship celebs of the past and politicians.

I suspect Shawshank's reputation is a victim of it's own success. So many people love it and rave about it it turns a lot of other people off, because at the end of the day it's "really good" not "great".
