What do you wear to lift/ does it make a difference?

I wear an olive green sleeveless spandex shirt, compressions shorts and basketball shorts. I usually wear my running shoes to lift since I do sprints afterwards but I just go barefoot for squats, deads.

Maybe I'll post a vid of me doing chinups in nothng but a man thong. It'll become the rage in workout wear here.

About the squat shoes to bench, they aren't necessary but they help in the way others have said. I'm assuming your bench technique isn't perfect (not many even on here are, mine sucks), but you should use search to find old threads about incorporating leg drive and proper set up. If you aren't doing it at all, you might be able to go from 275 up to 300 in less time than you think.

will do - i'm sure mine is pretty horrible. i've never been coached on it or read up on it.

i dont know if i'm going to do barefoot squats just yet.

Just don't wear a sleeveless f***ing t-shirt... The only guys that can get away with a sleeveless t-shirt are well developed bodybuilders.

Y'know what TNK, I find myself workin' out in a sleeveless t-shirt all the time, so you can kiss my red neck on this matter. If I have a t-shirt that's gotten to the point it's a liftin' shirt, the sleeves get cut off. Had an affinity for sleeveless shirts before I started liftin' and still have one now. I dont wear it to show off, I wear it 'cause it's comfortable for me. And I sweat like a sumbitch in that. Lord knows I'd hate to see how much water weight I'd lose in one workout if I lifted in sweats.

I wear what I'd wear when I grapple - Shorts over compression shorts, rashguard - and then I put on a pair of Chucks.
Sometimes sleeveless instead of the rashie and never the vale tudo shorts, even though I lift in my basement... it would be comfy though...

I prefer going barefoot or socks only with deads and squats, but my rec doesn't allow it, so I wear chucks. Plain shirt and shorts, the usual for working out.

I carry gloves in my gym bag but don't actually use them. They're for motivation. If I can't pull something, I take them out the bag and sit them next to me, and they taunt me. I usually do much better knowing that I don't want to wear them :).

What about barefoot? Is that just like lifiting in chucks?

Compression shorts under my normal shorts, chucks and some sort of BJJ or wrestling tournment shirt.

man... i need some lifting shoes...

for lifting i always wear compression shorts, basketball shorts, and a t-shirt or sleeveless t-shirt depending on what my clean clothes situation is looking like.

i like the sleeveless t-shirts though because even though i'm tiny and i look retarded in them, it helps me keep cool especially in the summer when our school gym is about as hot as the wrestling room.

plus i lose more than enough weight in muay thai practice >_<

I can't lift with shoes on I always lift barefooted or I feel weaker, otherwise I just wear some shorts and a t-shirt and I do have a pair of gloves I use sometimes on deadlifts for last few reps cause the bar digs into my hands so much.
