How it started is the UFC wanted him vs Chimaev too soon. Pereira thought it was cowardly, as he recently fought and preferred to rest.
Alex seems a bit sensitive, as there's not that much else tbh. I think in his mind, he's worried that people will question the warrior mentality maybe?
He couldn't just turn the fight down, instead he checked with the UFC if they would accept the bout at LHW, but that division wasn't interesting for team Chimaev.

Khamzat is one of those guys I like but won't give a shit if he loses because he's kind of an asshole, like Colby, like Izzy, like Conor and like Jones.

I'm a fan of some guys who aren't the nicest people so when they lose and you guys try to come all at me like I'm supposed to care, you're met with disappointment haha.

That said, Khamzat is going to beat the shit out of Paula and send him to the prelims. That dude is no better than Khamzat and is a lot closer to the claim of "Fighting every 2 years" than Khamzat is.
