When poverty is obese and we can't define what a woman is life is pretty good on top of that mountain. We rule the world with zero worry of the other countries
Or 90s. But I think it was downhill by 98-99.The 80's

90s imo. Socialist block was dissolved and the West had no contender. Was not as decadent as now.Since we're nearing the decline, Im wondering.. Say youre a civilization 1000 years in the future looking at a graph of prosperity and peace in western civilization. Sure, at no point in time was it ever a utopia, and certain groups of people were suffering & being oppressed... But , compared to the rest of human history (Filled with war, suffering, tyranny premature death and misfortune) it was statistically the most peaceful/prosperous point in human history.
What decade would you consider to be the most prosperous/peaceful?
You probably aren’t aware, but conservatives have, for decades, been complaining about the “rise of liberalism,” in the 80s, then the 90s, then the 2000s. In the 90s, it was the same exact stuff. Just substitute political correctness for SJW.From the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989 to the rise of illiberalism in mid 2010s.
I don't necessarily think so. All the signs of the downgrade of our society are there; the cracks are starting to show so to speak. Oh well, we had a good run I guess.Just another what decade do you miss / when were you young - thread

The world, as a whole, gets more progressive over time.
There is no “wave of liberalism” that occurred in the 2010s, just like there wasn’t one in the 2000s, the 90s, etc.
The only two times there were sudden massive paradigm shifts to more liberal cultural ideals were when the slaves were emancipated, and when the civil rights act was passed. Everything else has been a gradual shift toward more progressive ideals. Simply put, that’s how the world works.
I wrote ILliberalism, not liberalism. Meaning the slow corrosion of democratic liberties and liberal institutions (liberal in the classic sense, not the US meaning). You probably aren’t aware, but conservatives have, for decades, been complaining about the “rise of liberalism,” in the 80s, then the 90s, then the 2000s. Interesting. I’d like to here more about how their citizens have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms, protected rights to free speech, the right to freely assemble and protest, no state income tax and so on..
