What are you playing? v.9 (Kefka Edition)

Is a bad launch a death sentence for a new IP?

Only qualm are there are a few bits you need to grind, and that can be a little repetitive, otherwise it's absolutely fantastic.

Yea I always just b line it through the Yakuza games and this was the first one that made me have to stop and grind. One time for money\equipment and then for levels. So it was two separate times. It wasn't to bad though and I admit I kind of enjoyed the side stuff.

There was one bit I had to go thru the sewers about 3 times to get to the right level to beat Joon-gi Han, and then also the Majima and Saejima bit, which was worse cos that stealth area was annoying as fuck imo.. In terms of grinding though it's nowhere near the worst i've ever experienced in an RPG.

I thought about the sewer trick but then I realized just upgrading my equipment might be enough so I did that instead. At this point in the game just regular mobs were extremely tough for me so I knew I would need to stop and get my party stronger. The Majima and Saejima fight was also the next time I had to grind. I did the tower tournament thing they had.

I'm surprised you had trouble with the stealth I thought it was so easy that it was pretty much a waste of time to even include it.

I ended up doing both(grinding and upgrading equipment) after figuring out dude was weak to fire, Originally I lost like 4 times only getting him down to half health, when I went back I felt very OP and "killed" him with ease... Stealth bit was easy just slow to get thru for me, and when checking every spot for items i kept getting a little bit lost on where i'd checked and not checked already. Did end up doing the tower torny thing which is definitely the way to go.

Oh yea if you were trying to search all the places I could see that area being more annoying. I was going straight to the missions points. I got wrecked originally by the Duo and still had trouble even when I did the tourney. I was just trying to do the bare minimum to make it through the game since I just like b-lining these games not really into doing all the other side stuff.

Yeah I don't know what i'd have done without my Clear Panes and Sturdy Lumbers lol.

Man I forgot how long this game is. Just doing the Companions and Civil War questlines took 20 hours apparently. And that's with fast traveling everywhere possible.

Finally got around to the "Far Harbor" DLC for Fallout 4. They went out with a bang. Pretty much a brand new map(albeit a lot smaller), and a whole new slew of missions. This feels like the "Blood and Wine" expansion for TW3, in it's scope. WAY better than that "Nuka World" shit, which was okay, but was essentially just a gauntlet of bullet sponges and bullshit, in a terribly mapped out area, that can confuse you in ten steps.

Thinking of getting a new system. Been years, x box 360 was the last one, well, I guess I bought a switch too, just for Zelda.

Should I get a play station or an Xbox? Who has the better catalog? Thanks

This is going to be based on what kind of games you like in general. IMO PS is without a doubt on top. If you haven't played since 360 (my last xbox system as well) you're going to have a massive backlog of excellent games to play.

Playstation. It's not even close. Gran Turismo, Bloodbourne, Horizon, Spiderman, Demon Souls the list goes on. Xbox has........Halo?

Even then, you can get Halo on steam.

Yeah, the Civil War was always super long for a 'side' quest. What class are you in your return? If you haven't done a claw playthrough, I recommend it. You run bare fists on Khajiit and invest in Heavy Armor for Fists of Steel perk. You enchant for Unarmed amongst other little things to build around; it's a really fun CQ puncher build that shreds.

Lords of the Fallen 7/10

The world in this game is incredible. The dual world mechanic is well implemented and didnt feel overdone or gimmicky like I thought it may. It added an extra layer of exploration to a game with already incredible exploration. The weapons and armor types are varied and all look amazing. I kept playing with different looks which is something I've never really cared about before even in Elden Ring. Overall the boss fights ranged from good to epic with none that stand out as particularly awful.

This game would be a 9/10 if it wasnt for the performance issues. On Series X there is lots
of stuttering and frame drops. It's pretty bad. Yes it has improved with patches but not by much.

Enemy placement leaves a little to be desired. They are so blatantly cheap with the placement towards the end it just becomes tedious and it takes away from the environment. Every corner has an enemy hidden behind a barrel or pile of wood ready to pounce the second you are within range, over and over and over again. Enemy variety is a bit lacking too. Seems like they just do palatte swaps and give them a different attack. (Regular dogs, Fire Dogs, Frostbite dogs etc......)

I'll probably do another playthrough after they work out some of the performance issues.

Moving on to Dark Souls 2. My first time playing it. I know some of the issues people had with LoTF were also in DS2 so I'm interested to see how it goes.

Finished the main questline and did not kill Paarthurnax. He's my buddy!

But the Blades make a good argument. He did help enslave our people.

What to do?

finally running through final fantasy 13. i forgot i even had that game. nearing the end of chapter 11 everythings all opened up for me and shit. shouldnt take me too long to get through that and then finish up doing the rest of the side quests and endgame stuff.

destiny 2 legacy collection + the new expansion were both like 50-60% off on the microsoft store during this cyber week sale thing and i played the shit out of that game on game pass. i dont have a subscription anymore but i did really like that game, well not the story but the gameplay and especially the gunplay, so i bought that shit just for shits and giggles cause i probably won't see the price go that low for all this shit again any time soon

got alot of catching up to do in that one.

Has anyone played Lethal Company? We started a co-op yesterday with my friend and holy shit I haven't laughed so much in a while. It's great that the game can be that spooky and that funny. Alone it's mostly spooky tho.

Playing through Aliens: Dark Descent and freaking loving it. It’s captures suspense really well for a trpg. Also playing Rollerdrome and doing Enter the Gungeon runs here and there. I’ll eventually beat this goddamn Gungeon!
