What are you playing now? v2

Thanks for the reply, I think I would actually like the faster gameplay more tbh. Dark souls felt very slow and way too reliant on absolute perfect timing on rolls. I’m prolly just bad at those games tho but I would probably put more time into getting better if I liked the combat more.

With Sekiro, it's almost like a rhythm game. It's all about timing, and inputting precise, and complex button presses within a millisecond of a window. Just a heads up, because if you thought the timing in Dark Souls was unforgiving, Sekiro is quite a few steps above that. It is different though, so it click for you. Opinions vary on it's difficulty. Some think that once you get it down, it's piss easy, but I can only speak from my experience that "getting it down" is quit the mountain to overcome.

Dark Souls 3

Since I'm stupid and lazy, I'm just gonna ask here. What are "weapon arts", and do you have to activate them, or are they just referring to the differences of strong and weak attacks? I'm 20 hours deep, and I still don't know what the hell they are.

Pressing L2 activates a special attack that’s unique to each weapon/spell.

Hmph. Do you have to hit it special like(holding it)? Because that's just the parry button for me. Does the weapon have to be in a certain hand?

Gonna have to give this a shot. It seems...kind of important, LOL.

Isn’t L1 parry? Idk, try holding too, been a while since I’ve played. It’s one of the two but honestly not very important at all. Weapon arts are mostly useless. Better off using traditional attacks.

I'm on Xbox, but L1 is just your standard block. I imagine it's universal, with L2 being the parry. Although I have confused what "parry" is in the past. The move where you time the block, so you swipe their attack and open up a reposte opportunity.

If it ain't that important though, whatever. I do get this cool shield bash move when I hold it though, so I'm guessing that has to be it, only I don't have my sword in my left hand.

Im pretty sure it’s L2, but it’s only if you’ve got a weapon in your left hand, or you’re using a two handed weapon. If you’ve got a shield in your left hand then L2 doesn’t do a “weapon art” or whatever it’s called.

Its about time. I hope they update ME1 and ME2 with ME3 gun play. ME3 had the best shooting by far it made me go soldier for the first time in the series.

I doubt they would change the shooting mechanics of Me1 because that would be a very significant change to the game. ME1 wasn’t even a cover based shooter, unlike Me2 and 3. If they changed the shooting mechanics of 1 to be like 2 and 3 they’d have to change so much to the game to make everything work.

ME1 was a cover based shooter. You could order your squad to get behind different covering and all of that. Not sure what you mean.

From the WIKI as well:

Combat in Mass Effect is squad-based and two squad members accompany the player on the battlefield.[8] The player has direct control of Shepard while the squad members are controlled by the game's artificial intelligence.[1] Battles take place in real-time, but the player can pause the action at any time to calmly target enemies and select different talent abilities for the squad members to use.[1] The game uses an over the shoulder perspective akin to a third-person shooter, and features a cover system which allows players to strategically hide behind objects while fighting enemy forces.[1] The player may also issue orders to the squad members, such as sending them to take cover behind an object, scout ahead, regroup, or focus their fire on a designated target.[4]

There was some cover, but not much compared to 2 and 3. 2 and 3 were practically Gears of War with biotics. In 1 you didn’t need to utilize cover at all if you didn’t want to, you could just stand and bang, toe to toe with the enemy if you wanted. It was no big deal. In 2 or 3 if you don’t use cover you will get massacred.

Ah ok I see what you mean. Yea it's true in 1 you could simply walk through people. The biotics were so OP in that game. Which is why they added shields\armor in ME2\3. Still I think all they would have to do is rework ME1 a bit the other two games can really be left as is.

Playing Nioh 2 right now, so much more exciting that Death Stranding lol. I enjoyed it, but needed something more upbeat.

I did not really like the first Nioh, but Nioh 2 is more enjoyable thus far.

I think ME1's combat works just fine. It's more diverse, and had more RPG elements to it, whereas the other two were heavily focused on being a shooter, with very light RPG elements. There's room for both. If they were gonna tweak anything in ME1, it should be that hunk of shit bathtub on wheels, called the Mako. That is the only element of that game I really struggle to power through, whenever I go back to it.

I think biotics were to OP and that should be adjusted. I thought the shield/armor that were added in the next game were a huge improvement.

The problem was health decreased so fast after removing armor or shields that biotics didn’t matter as much once you removed them.

With the TLOU2 done I’m at a bit of a crossroads. Would enjoy playing through it on NG+, finding all the collectibles I missed and becoming a fully upgraded badass. I also have Nioh 2 that’s been patiently waiting for me to return. I think the break from it will be beneficial. There’s also Maneater which looks like a lot of dumb fun. It’s something I’ll pry just fire up from time to time.

Also, The Messenger just showed up on Game Pass and I’ve been wanting to play it for a while.

Can’t complain with the options I have.

Dark Souls 3

Well, I'm officially stuck now. Beat the "Deacons of Whatever" boss, if you could even call it that. Seriously, that is the weakest ass boss I've seen in the whole franchise. That was some extremely lazy shit. Just a weak mob with an ever changing main target, that is easy as piss to get to. I was waiting for the second form, and some big dude to come crashing in, but it never happened. I'm pretty sure I could've beaten them blindfolded.

Anyways, I have no goddamn idea where to go now, except for that poison swamp area. It's an option at least, but I just know that this cathedral area has more secrets, but I don't know what else to do. I'm lost. It looks like there is another area where the Onion Knight tricks you, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to raise that gate he lowered. I have explored every nook and cranny of that level, and can't find the switch to raise it back up, so I can walk to the other side.

Been grinding a bit, at least. Up to level 54, so I'm certainly prepared for what comes next. Now where to find it...

If you’re level 54 you were pretty over-leveled for Deacons lol. They are mostly a joke but you’d be surprised how difficult they can be. There’s an invisible timer that counts down so if your damage sucks you pretty much can’t beat them.
