@Falsedawn

I gave Disco Elysium another go. only for a few minutes. made it up to the chick & the ashtray.

the game style is like King's Quest & Leisure Suit Larry.

I used to love games like that as a kid, but I'm finding I don't have the patience for these kinds of games anymore.

maybe I'll give it another go at a later time.

I think the thing that makes it different than those games is that the thought cabinet and your traits can drastically change how you experience the game. If you're at all invested in the story stick with it. The game has a time mechanic, but note that time only passes when you initiate dialogue. It pushes you along with passing time, but gives you the opportunity to really digest everything that's going on. What's your build right now?

I those the 'Thinker' or whatever.

I gained some 'points' when talking to myself in the mirror & the chick. but I remember losing some points too. I still have yet to grasp a full understanding on all that though. I only played for about 10 minutes tops. probably not even that much.

Platinumed Bloodborne tonight. If it’s the only game I ever platinum I’ll be satisfied with that

Dude looks like he'd graduated from Byrgenwerth a few times himself, lol. ^

Don't get too much into the archetypes, and think about the game as an exercise in roleplay.

You have the 4 main attributes:
-Intellect- How conventionally "smart" you are
-Physique- Your physical strength
-Psyche- How persuasive you are
-Motorics- How much dexterity you have

And then the skills to go with each attribute. If you're specializing in intellect, you might have a greater book understanding of the world, but be a total aspie. If you're a physique cop, you might punch your way through problems.

So keeping that in mind, look at the skills you like and play the game as the cop. One of my favorites that opened up the game for me is Encyclopedia, which gives you an innate understanding of the lore of the world. So as they move forward, you'll just "know" certain tidbits that will give you more insight into what exactly the fuck is going on. Other than that, just watch Health and Morale. You'll generally lose them by failing checks, but there's lots of opportunity to regain them later. However, don't be afraid to fail checks, because sometimes they can open up other stuff only open to failures. I progressed a storyline by failing a check and trucking a lady in a wheelchair which opened up the door that was behind her. One health for a pathway that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

It's really one of the best true RPGs i've ever played. I had to break my JRPG min/max "always win" mentality though.

Hello false-chan

I realize that. I'm saying that the combat needed an overhaul. Don't know if turn based is the way to go, but something needed to be done. The combat in Yakuza is beyond stale at this point. They can barely be arsed to even change up the melee weapons. Still the same bicycles, pylons, and street signs...

It's time they tried something a little different.
I have a deep hatred of turn-based RPGs. Costume Quest was as far as I went with them.

I'm playing Control.

Good story with good gameplay, great level design and great atmosphere but the game is ruined by technical problems (at least on PS4), awulf frame rate drops (at moments is unplayable) and long loading times. Also, in game map is THE WORST that I ever saw in modern video games, it can take eternity untill you figure out where you need to go. Oh yeah, when you die you lose 10% of your ingame resources.

9/10 game with 6/10 execution.

Yeah, it's not for everyone. I'd settle for Yakuza just to simply tighten up it's combat. Even "Sleeping Dogs", which essentially just ripped of the Arkham combat system, shits all over Yakuza's combat. Yakuza has a lot of dated elements that are charming, but the old sloppy arcade beat 'em up combat has overstayed it's welcome. You have to fight like 9 billion times throughout any given Yakuza game, so it's time they actually made it fun for more than five minutes.

picked up nba2k20 off ps plus, fun so far as i haven't played a ball sports game since world cup 98 for the n64
Also playing. I'm not gonna lie the gameplay and graphics feel like an early ps3 game but it is fun. I also have to mention the commentary is fluid and feels like a real NBA game.

Also got the new C&C remaster. Its great. The music takes it to the next level though. When that shit kicks in right before an attack it gets the heart pumping haha

Almost done with Yakuza 6. Have some more boss fights to get through the story, but I've enjoyed it.

For the fans of BB, what is your favourite boss? Your favourite area?

I honestly dont have a favourite boss, but my favourite bosses were the hunter kinds, like Gehrman and Maria. Love the Ludwig fight because of the OST and the the second stage cutscene with the 'my guiding moonlight', shit is so fucking hype.

Bloodborne maybe has te best atmosphere of any game ever, I love Cainhurst, just the architecture and the snow setting, and the mystery of the whole area is jawdropping. I love the Old Hunters DLC areas aswell, it feels so otherworldly and bleak. The HP Lovecraft shines in these areas.

To me BB was a 10 that solidified its greatness with what is probably one of the best DLCs made this gen. I wouldnt be shocked if people loved the DLC more than the base game.

Yeah, it did get tedious getting jumped every three feet. Majima Everywhere was amusing in Kiwami, and the brutal heat actions remind me of the old AKI wrestling games (plus the gloriously OTT finishers from Def Jam Vendetta), but it did seem pretty basic. Majima had the breaker style, which was refreshing though, being somewhat capoeira inspired.

Ludwig by far. I genuinely look forward to it. I’m the opposite when it comes to BB and Souls games. In BB I love the beast fights, in Dark Souls I love the humanoid fights.

Favorite area? Hmm, maybe Upper Cathedral Ward. It’s such a great horror atmosphere.

I’ve been playing through a new game sporadically. Still in love with that game.

Out of all my favourite games, I consider BB to be the closest to a perfect game. Its maybe a bit too punishing for a new Souls player, but I everyone I know loves it after they defeat Gehrman.

The funny thing is that BB does survival horror than many of the pure survival horror games outside of the greatest in the sub genre and its technically an Action game. The atmosphere in the game is unmatched and every area has its own flair but they all feel distinctly from the same world.

I think its a game that get better with every playthrough, cause you notice more subtle things aswell. If I was a game director, it'd be the main game I'd take inspiration from.
