We were all torrenting movies back then. Piracy already existed. We still went out to the movies. The marvel movies all happened during the era of streaming.

I really don't think any of the excuses hold water.

I went 2000-2002. Some all time greats in all the years. But these 3 had the most winners for me. All this shows us is how far the industry has fallen. Any of these years can beat the last 5 together.

2000, 2005, and 2007. Pretty weak decade imo and the last with any real masterpieces before post post post modernism set in.

It's amazing to watch the increase in studio volumes and outputs decade over decade. The '00s list is easily double the amount of the previous decade, and so on. '01 and '02 are a given. '03 narrowly edges out '04, but '04 was riddled with some incredible performances by individuals. Probably one of the more difficult polls done.

'01 is crazy.

'01 launched 4 franchises...the Fellowship, the Ocean's crew, the Fast Bullshit and the Harry Potterverse
The kids had Shrek, Monster's Inc, Spirited Away, and Cowboy Bebop
The cultists had Ghost World, Donnie Darko and A Knight's Tale
War buffs got Pearl Harbour, Enemy At The Gates and Black Hawk Down
Add in crazy leading performances in Training Day, Hannibal, A Beautiful Mind, Blow, Vanilla Sky, Moulin Rouge... '01 was a stacked year.
