Was Ryan Couture Thrown to the Wolves?

This fight only made sense if you really thought Couture beat Noons. Anyone who didn't base their opinion of that fight on the Fight Finder knew that Couture was in trouble.

I wouldn't say he was thrown to the wolves since he apparently beat Noons, but he wasn't ready for that fight, that's for sure.

That's crazy talk. Ross probably wasn't even top 30 when he dropped to FW. He had dropped two of his last three fights to Cole Miller and Edson Barboza. Since moving back up after an unsuccessful stint at FW he has a meaningless win over Couture(which he managed to lose the first round in) and washed up Sotiropoulos that had just been knocked out by Ross' boxing coach. Look what RDA did to George and he still hasn't cracked the top 15 himself. Realistically Ross should probably be ranked somewhere in the twenties and I think that's pretty close to his true place in the division. And the guy still hasn't fought a single wrestler in the UFC BTW.

Your last sentence is a falsehood.

Big competition will either make or break Couture. He should welcome the challenge and hopefully step up to the occasion.

How dare you suggest that Ryan Couture not get preferential treatment.

His wrestling may not be creme de la creme, but he is a wrestler.
As far as I can remember he's always been billed as a BJJ guy. His MMA wrestling is pretty bad. I'd have a hard time even calling it average. So not much of a wrestler either way.

So if I bought a ticket to UFC Sweden, I would have bought a ticket to see a wolf?

A wolf ticket, one could say?

he should have done what his dad did and won when given a gift fight ..

Maybe so, but he was a wrestler before taking up BJJ.

That's true and I wasn't aware that he wrestled in high school. But BJJ is what got him into MMA, he says as much on his UFC fighter page. Fighters aren't necessarily defined based on what discipline they first competed in.

Maybe not, but I'm sure right now he wishing he had dedicate more time to wrestling considering his style is highly dependent on the clinch.

I'm sure he wishes he'd dedicated more time to everything and got into fighting sooner.

That too. That too.

As far as I'm concerned, Ryan Couture is a guy that got signed way too early.
