No offense, but Alex Pereira is a different kind of beast. Ankalaev wants him because he wants to fight the best fighter in the UFC right now as he's the type who loves to challenge himself. Alex accepted even the fight in June... Btw, whatever fight we will see will be an epic fight and an elite one, but this time Alex gets the win imo. He even posted a picture next to Topuria with both holding two belts, and Topuria saying "the best has yet to come" ....

Lol recover from what? I enjoyed the fight. I like Ankalaev. I was never mad at the decision, Ankalaev is a legit badass and one of the best ever. I think he and Alex are the best fighters right now in the whole UFC. I was never mad... Contrary to most, I found that fight a masterpiece, with two very smart fighters knowing when to pick shots instead of head hunting. For me as someone who likes MMA not to see blood and bodies falling, but extreme talent, that fight was a treat

Not everyone will like to watch two chess masters who are on the same level though, they will find it boring. I don't watch fights for violence tho, I watch them for the talent and skills fights bring. And sometimes when fighters are so skilled to the point they can beat anyone, the fight is like a boring chess match for those who like head hunting with no consequences but just blood and KOs...

What takedown threat? Ank has 22% takedown accuracy, zero attempted submissions in the UFC, zero G&P finishes off a takedown in the UFC, and sometimes manages to hold down gassed out old men without doing any damage. He literally has the least takedown threat of any UFC fighter who's ever landed a takedown. Every time he attempts a takedown he's giving his opponent a free shot to counter if anything meaningful happens at all. He'd probably be better off never attempting any non-desperation takedowns.

Here , rewatch it and refresh your memory. Alex won first round (Ankalaev didn't hit once in the face, it was decided on leg kicks) Ank won the 2nd round. 3rd round was close (the stats had the same # of strikes to the head and to the body for both fighters, leg kicks Alex had 6 more). Round 4 Ank won but by the criteria of area control. He didn't inflict impactful damage as his grappling was nullified so all Ank could do was hold in the fence, and Ank was the one who got taken down at the last second. Round 5 Alex won, same # of strikes, but Alex had more impact with a head kick, 2 jabs to the body and 3 strong left hands to the face.

Fight was really close and round 3 was the swing round. So rewatch the fight above so you can see how close it was... Almost to the point of a true 50/50

I can tell you what will happen if Pereira starts throwing punches. He will get countered and KOed immediately by Ankalaev. That's what will happen. There's a reason why some of Anakalaev's opponents freeze and some simply run away from him, avoiding to engage (like Rakic). When will you guys understand that Anakalaev is so technically sound, especially in boxing, that his opponents simply have no answer to that. And please stop with the injury excuse. There's literally no evidence of any injuries or ailments apart from what Pereira casually said in the interview.
In the second fight you will see the outcome that would be no different, or worse - for Pereira in particular.
