Warhammer 40k

More Nu-Marines. The primaris-ization of old character continues. A couple pictures from the article [LINK].

Yes the ultramarines and white scars head librarians both got the primaris upgrade

Next big event labelled psychic awakening
Gamewise it seems likely there will be endless spells option

Lore wise new codexes galore
Hints are that 'war calls and faith is tested ' sooooo guilliman vs the faith? Or Recent books have has chaos forces focus on religious planets close to great rift...seems they act as like the cadian pylons to hold back chaos so maybe its related? Also bigger focus on the soritas so maybe its about that? Or finaly some clearer awnsers onn how faith in the emps works vs chaos?

'The beast roars' gotta be ghaz ..maybe finaly becomming kork/beast level

'Ancient darkness rises' necrons? Ctan? Old ones? New faction ? Eldran and guilliman conversation did indicate there may be darker things than the gods in the deep warp

I picked up the AT Titan Battlegroup and have started making my own warhound fileset. The plastic model hasn't been nearly as helpful as I had hoped. It's useful for blocking out certain major dimensions but I've had to resort to finding pictures of the real resin model and freehanding most of it. Frankly, it's been slow going. I've started with the foot and my god, there are so many interlocking fiddly bits. The foot has 24 pieces! Each front toe has three phalanges and three pistons (the front one being a two-piece piston). What a nightmare that has been. I've got all the major bits mocked up sans rear toe but I haven't bothered with some of the smaller details such as rivets and embossing. I'll tackle that sort of stuff at the very very end.

Anyways, have some pictures:

EDIT: I didn't want to bother with a new post for this. I've finished the foot (sans rivets/embossing). I think this may end up being one of the most difficult parts of the kit to do just because of how many interlocking pieces needed to be fitted.

that thing looks intricate

Some of its worse than others. The hardest part of the whole thing is getting reference pictures from enough angles. So far the foot has proven to be the worst due to how many interlocking fiddly-bits there were. The rest of it hasn't been too bad thanks in part to the plastic model proving more usable for providing dimensions than it was for the foot. The only other tough part ended up being the piston mounting points on the ankle. They aren't evenly arrayed so it makes them, and all their surrounding detail pieces, a pain to locate. It also turns out that when GW designed the pegs they put them in an odd spot. There's two rings, and instead of putting them in the middle of the rings (like I decided to do, contrary to the real model) they put them even with the top ring. And then they put the rear-most peg even higher than that above the ring...for no good reason that I could discern.

I figure I'll have the entire lower body structure done either tonight or tomorrow (depending on how motivated I'm feeling). After that I'll start filling in the details and make up both a Lucius and Mars pattern armor set. My plan is, once that's all done, make a second version of everything where I pre-pose everything and including alignment pegs so I can start printing and not have to worry about how it will fit together. It should make assembly way easier than my warlord has been. Hopefully by the time that stuff is done printing I'll have more parts ready to go, but the head and the body might prove obnoxious; the Lucius and Mars patterns are nothing alike and will basically be doubling the workload.

I love how technology has ramped up the glorious nerding off this hobby.

Im looking for a cheap way to get started with this hobby and think kill team is the way to go. Does anyone have any advice on a cheap easy to build team that wont be completely useless? Also is the point limit in kill team 100 or 200?

I haven't played the rebooted KT so I can't speak towards the game balance, but pretty much all of GW's modern kits are well engineered and easy to assemble. You won't really go wrong with any of the basic infantry boxes. I don't know what the limit is, but 100 is the standard game and a quick look makes it seem like most boxes can fill that out without needing extra stuff.

I still need to do a bunch of detailing on the pelvis+waist but this was too good not to share now:

Did you get the slots for the pins set as well?
Nope, haven't gotten to any of that sort of stuff yet. But I was doing some testing and it turns out I can fit an entire leg in my printer all at once so I'll be able to pose the model how I want it and print it all at once as a single solid piece (actually two halves plus two toes plus the armor plates). No pinning required, at least for the legs.

Nice, that will make life a lot easier for you

Am i correct in thinking that i can paint any primaris/space marines to make them the chapter I want or do i need to change the heads etc?

You can paint them up to be anything right out of the box. Some chapters do have conversion bits available, but they aren't necessary as anything other than bling.

I've added in a lot of the little details as well as the ankle pistons. The pelvis is proving obnoxious due to how busy some of the details are and I haven't gotten around to finishing it yet (hopefully done tonight). The tips of the toes are still plain because they're going to be different between the Mars/Lucius versions and I haven't gotten to that step yet.

Whew, that was a pain in the ass. By my count I'm up to 23 unique parts, with 95 total parts in the assembly shown below. I'm pretty happy with it so far. The upper body, head, and weapons should be easier in the regard that there is little to worry about for mating parts and that's one of the more time consuming things to get done.

She is starting to come along

I didn't bother with the filigree type crap since I have no intention of printing a Mars Pattern. I might go back and add it after everything else is done, but right now the size, shape, and fitment is the important part.
