There's definitely a dependence on coffee. I won't pretend to be above it. But it's not just caffeine, IMO. At one point I was hooked on caffeine and disgusting energy drinks did the trick for me. Coffee has a lot more going for it, though: it's a hot drink, for one, and it smells and tastes really good if you know what you're doing. It's a whole experience. What you're hooked on is dopamine, I think.

Now, if shitty coffee still does it for you, that's a different story.

Oh for sure its not just about the caffeine for me, I really just like a hot drink in the morning and I love the taste. I almost never have energy drinks, only when I need to stay up for some reason.
