It's totally unfair, but because of the prevalence of antisemitism in the intersection of Israel critics and Muslim activists, the successful default assumption is bigotry/racism/etc. So yeah the Muslim speaker has to distance him/herself from it clearly and consistently.

Lemme fire one back at you that I've been mulling over:

Is Islam actually experiencing a rapid enlightenment? I think it's a possibility that we should take seriously.

I'd say it's more a case of everyone else becoming less enlightened. I say that mostly in jest, but I mean, in my lifetime, certain things just were off the debate table but have magically reappeared. Things like justifying torture, legitimizing fringe conspiracy theories and theorists (i.e. infowars is legit media, a television channel has reached Pravda level of state propaganda, other more legit media is fake), and an increasing disdain for science/fact/academia.

That being said, lot of Muslim majority countries are somewhere else on the evolution curve, and with digitization and sharing of ideas, have a tremendous enlightenment opportunity especially if mosque and state can decouple further.

Sounds funny, but in my many travels, the places that I felt are in peak cycle of great places to be are places in central europe like Czech republic, Hungary etc. Still rich with tradition and culture, family values, not as expensive as fuck to live in (possibly not on the Euro helps), super friendly people who love to go out and not sit at home, but modern enough that they don't feel under-developed and you can buy nice shit, great work life balance, stable politics. I'd sooner live there than north america or western europe.

I was caught off guard by it but I suppose a buzzed guy who's that good is far more composed and in control then most. I've only been hurt three times and they all were from spazzing white belts. Two of my knuckles can't crack and I had a knee injury that lingered for about two months. The same principle seems true in Rugby. The time I got most hurt was always from some person who came down for their first practice. Funny enough, I have a third knuckle I can't crack and it's from that. The slight califlower I have on one ear is from some dumbass clapping both his hands on my head as I was heading into him (Rugby, not BJJ).

Yes I want none of that.

As an acrobat, my joints and tendons are already constantly at risk. The damagemail to any, permanently downgrades the things I can do.

If someone else were to be the cause of that, there would be............hard feelings.

and look where that got him.
five in the back.
Oof

That's just shit luck imo. Would you trade your current life for something like that? Fame and fortune but you know it ends tragically at a certain point?

Ten years ago I would have likely said yes no brainer, nowadays in my current situation no way in hell. Answer would be dependent on how well I was doing and how many years late the tragedy hits. I'd assume it would be somewhat relative for a lot of people.

Did you experience a pretty low point or you saying average life you’d trade for it? I’d assume for the tragedy piece you don’t get to know when. Maybe the year or decade. Idk. That adds another layer of how many years you’d trade for that type of life.

celebrities have premonitions sometimes.
Sharon Tate confided in a friend some months before her ordeal that she was
having recurrent nightmares about being savagely murdered by a satanic cult of some kind.
too bad she wrote it off as bad dreams from coffee ice cream and pickles before bed.....(she was pregnant?)

Maybe not relevant to the instant conversation but to dang good not to share. Its amazing how powerful these animals are. Trust me you guys will enjoy this. This was filmed by a remote camera in the woods of Finland.

Geeze. That hump on the one in back. Damn.

This is something I find amazing with Shapiro. Maybe some of his examples are on point but the reasoning he applies to condemn a person are things he does with other groups. He is very very sensitive when it comes to his own identity but gets angry anytime a different person or group does it.
That's one reason I dislike Shapiro, the hypocrisy of his constant whining about the left's use of the race card when he himself has no qualms calling leftists antisemitic. Dave Rubin does the same thing and its even worse with him because he has even less substance than Shapiro and doesn't say much beyond criticizing the left for so called identity politics before turning around and doing the same thing the second its convenient for him.

What you mean by enlightenment?

What you mean by enlightenment?

Be prepared for an answer that is a letdown, from someone who is quite nasty when pertaining to opinions on religion.

Shapiro tends to start at a desired conclusion, and then finagle arguments around justifying said conclusion. That’s fine if your goal is to make yourself look like you are winning a debate at the particular moment, but not good if you are trying to appear like you have a consistent set of guiding principles.
