This is something I find amazing with Shapiro. Maybe some of his examples are on point but the reasoning he applies to condemn a person are things he does with other groups. He is very very sensitive when it comes to his own identity but gets angry anytime a different person or group does it.

It's not just a Muslim question, really. It's genuinely interesting, because the Jews are bashed in a bigoted way for corruptly ruling over everything, and when it comes to Israel, the criticism falls right in line with that, and Israel is recognized as the Jewish motherland...and Hitler...and oy vey...

It's like Israel as a symbol is one big shield against any criticism levied at their people.

You'd run into the same conundrum if Africa rose to the same level of power and influence. You couldn't criticize them without being called racist, and in fairness, there likely would be some genuine racists using criticism of African political influence, as a shield for their bigotry.

It's totally unfair, but because of the prevalence of antisemitism in the intersection of Israel critics and Muslim activists, the successful default assumption is bigotry/racism/etc. So yeah the Muslim speaker has to distance him/herself from it clearly and consistently.
