I knew someone who had one for a while. In his case, that was just where it grew for him and he was lazy about shaving for a few months.

Hermits/recluses, who live largely in solitude, generally don´t give much of a shit about how they look.

People usually "groom" themselves for others, rather than for their own sake.

The problems occur, of course, when these "hermits" then go outside in public, and are stunned by other people's responses at how they look and carry themselves.

I'll be honest, until I moved for this new job I gave really zero shits about how I looked as long as my shirt was pressed, my tie had no stains and my hair had been cut and beard trimmed within 30 days.

Now? Cause I'm living with a dude that was military I'm actually taking care of myself and don't look like a strung out office worker anymore.
