Isn't think line graph of polling data on military spending incredible? Look at the "% Too little" line specifically.

While I won't pretend there aren't obvious variable events (9/11, etc.), it seems to otherwise show pretty perfectly the cyclical fear mongering of the Republican Party, such that fears about war and so on are ramped up during Democratic administrations and then dissipate into thin air once a Republican takes office. The "too little" sentiment climbs to an all-time high leading up to Reagan's election, then immediately drops 70%. Then it continues to drop through three Republican presidencies to a near all-time low. Then Clinton is elected and it slowly triples over his presidency. Then it immediately drops upon GWB's election and then makes it's slow climb during the post-GFC Obama era.

The major spikes in this for "we spend too little":

Iran (rather serious-ish) + Election of Reagan (R)
9/11 (rather serious) + Election of Bush (R)
Absolutely nothing + Election of Trump (etard)

aka "OMFG Carter! OMFG Clinton! OMFG Obama!"

Just saying.

I know some of you guys are WWE nerds. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone bring up the Lars Sullivan scandals on the forum.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of, he sucks. I'm amazed/not amazed that they even called him up. Guy is an idiot, plus he sucks. Vince loves the muscle heads though. Enough to ignore the dude bragging about jacking off to his daughter.

I think I have to add something to the topix, but right now I am trying to deal with the fact that it is 3 am, I just got to the hotel from a Beograde club and the taxi picks me up in 2.5 hours

Belgrade is the only city where when I arrived I was like ''where the fuck am I?'', I was lowkey afraid a bit ahah; they left me in front of a bombed crumbling building at night, and the area near the train station is kinda sketchy looking. Anyway it was just impressions, it's quite a safe city and serbians are super friendly. The fact that they left the buildings bombed by the NATO in a state of ruin like that in the middle of the city is kinda weird tho.

This is a random question but we're still house hunting.

What's better in your opinion Central air or ductless split level system?

Rich people and their swamp cooler euphemisms smh

What size is your home? Do you have existing ductwork or not? Or are you building?

I have ductless split and I like it. Only drawback is if you don’t want to be able to see your AC unit then go for central. Also central is more efficient in a larger home, especially 2,500 sq. ft. or more.

Edit: sorry I kind of missed that you aren’t that close to decided on the place. But those are the questions to ask. If your place already has ductwork or is bigger than 2,500 sqft then you should go central. If not then it’s personal preference.

We're looking at rowhomes in Philly so between 1,300 and 1,800 square feet.

We like a house that has no ducts and radiator heat. So installing central air would be more costly and the ducts might be unsightly or eat into closet space.

Not window units, I refuse to do window units.

There is a condenser outside mounted on the wall for each floor and each room has a wall mount with a tube through the wall.
Central air is still way better. Those are the modular home to window units' double wide.

...and why would the amateur need to be educated by the professional?

Okay fair enough I stretched the definition of "self taught" but I stand by what I said. I think a person can definitely teach themselves enough history through their own study to match the knowledge of a person with a Bachelor's in history. Any Uni student can just go to the history section of their library and if they start with a general survey on a topic and then use the bibliography and further readings section to direct their research from there.

Like I pointed out, Tom Holland has published more than one book of popular history and he has no history degree.

How big and old of a house. Central is more efficient but ductless tend to last longer

I listen to Hardcore History every once and a while and Dan Carlin always makes it a point to stress that despite his BA in history he is not a historian.

History is one of those subjects where grad school is on a different level.

Some majors somewhat top out at the bachelor's level (accounting imo and engineering).

Econ and History really step it up at the Grad school level.

Math and hard sciences do as well but they were already rigorous in undergrad
