Real property loss due to rising sea levels is a Chinese hoax to make US coastal real estate less competitive imo

Somehow I doubt that.
You think that when parts of their country start disappearing, and they have large numbers of displaced people, shortages of potable water, food, sanitation, in concert with militarily weak neighbours, that it is doubtful it would lead to war in some countries?

Wars don't get started on hoaxes idiot

I'm doubtful that Indonesia would try and succeed. Russia or China in the same situation might though. They're not islands so it wouldn't be exactly the same and in fact IIRC Russia will actually benefit from climate change but if they don't I could see them waging war under a leader like Putin over it.

Maybe I'm underestimating how poorly the issue would be dealt with and how likely it is to lead to war among the weaker nations.

I think this rule conforms to the Republican/white conservative ethos of it's worse to call someone a racist than it is to be a racist.

Along those same lines, it's worse to call someone a rapist than to be a rapist.
I wouldn't go that far but if you're a white male and people think you're a racist you can say bye-bye to your job (if you have a normal job). That's pretty bad.
They will wage war with one of their neighbors to get more land if this happens.

They're also weak and the weak ones are going underwater too. They will move to Australia.

You know what's really scary?

United States is approximately 9,833,517 sq km, while Indonesia is approximately 1,904,569 sq km.
So Indonesia will have around the same population as the US had in 2010 with 1/5 of the land area.
Let's not even talk about Nigeria.
Oh but Africa is sooo big. Well, Nigeria is only 50% bigger than Texas. Half the size of Alaska.

Communist architecture fascinates me. Just landed in Beograd and this is from just before landing.

Yes, I didn't intend to limit my remarks to South Asia. It's going to be tough all over. That's why I don't get the anti-immigrant crowd's apparent lack of interest in pushing political will toward attacking climate pollution. The biggest polluters are large corporations but they have their hands deep into the pockets of politicians. So they aren't budging unless they fear being voted out of office.

If a guy loses their job and has their social reputation significantly tarnished due to baseless accusations, it is certainly not going to comfort them much to be able to say that, well, atleast they're not an actual rapist/racist.

If it was up to "conservatives" they'd probably cut the balls off of rapists, anyway. The meaning of "racism" has become so diluted nowadays that it means nothing. Most "racism" nowadays has more to do with people acting like dicks to another, instead of trying to genocide them, or oppress them.

Considering that just about anything awkward that happens in a "racially tense" context, can be seen as "racism", it's not really such a big crime to be deemed a "racist" by others. In essence it just means that you're not fully up to the task about modern social/corporate culture, and its expected behaviours. It doesn't mean that you're measuring skull sizes of human beings in order to establish your own racial superiority over them.

In the future, being "racist" might become a label that many people will embrace due to it becoming so totally detached from its significantly more "malevolent" origin, which was the establishment of these sorts of racial hierarchies. Being anti-establishment, anti-corporate, counter-cultural, even if it means being labeled a "racist", will always be appealing to a great number of people.

That's why I'd advise the people who have grown a liking to using that term in order to label other people, to heighten their standards. By the time that a majority of people are deemed "racist", it's no longer going to have much power in labeling people negatively.

Gotta like all the green spaces mixed in with the high-rises. The rows of buildings in the upper left have some visual appeal, though I assume less so if you're closer to them.

With all due respect, you're the guy that thought "coon" wasn't a racist term because all 2 of the black finnish people around you supposedly use it.

Not really coming to you for advice on the subject.

I don't think it's possible to over-estimate how bad things are going to get if wholesale change doesn't come very soon.

You've got the wrong guy, I'm afraid. I have no "black people" around me and have never boasted about such a thing.

From what I remember, the only time I've referred to term "coon" on this forum, was when I pointed out that the term has essentially disappeared from popular use, unlike the N-word, because it didn't persist in pop culture. It never became "cool" to say "coon". It only exposed one's backwardness.

The best way to make old, inconvenient words disappear, is by not using them. Same goes for the dreaded N-word. If you truly want to get rid of this word, then you should not integrate it to be a part of your everyday vocabulary. If you do use the word on a frequent basis, but somehow then expect other people not to use it, because of their different skin color, well, then you're just being an idiot.

Finnish people were once derogatorily called "tsushnas" by Russians, and it was considered a grave insult, particularly during times when relations between Finns and Russians were tense. But nowadays, nobody probably even knows what it means.

Tbh I only found out that coon was a racist term after watching the South Park episode that references it and only after someone explained it to me as I didn't really get the joke.

I also believe it will get bad but I think we will see a continuation of the current pattern of instability and violence which is far less often between states but rather within states. So I think climate change will help trigger many civil wars in weak, artificial states across the developing world more so than wars of conquest between states. In fact there is the argument that the Syrian civil war was partly triggered by climate change, specifically a drought IIRC, so its arguably not even a hypothetical at this point.

So you didn't post these?

Only people I've ever heard use the word "coon" are African-Americans.

And?

I challenge anyone to find a non-black American who uses the term "coon" that isn't an active member of the KKK.

It is an ancient term that's mainly in use by blacks for other blacks, nowadays. Much like the dreaded N-word, although that one does get more "play", even by "whites", because of its frequent use in hip hop/rap songs.

What do you think would happen in North America if Canada abruptly chose to nationalize all its water rights, including the Great Lakes, and stop supplying fresh water to the US due to scarcity? Unlikely, perhaps in this particular case, but you could see similar things happen all over the globe, and not just over water.

So what was it about 2 black Finnish people frequently using the word? Were you just straight-up lying? Or misremembered it?

Where exactly do I refer to it not being a racist term?

I can only speak about my (extensive) experience of scourging the web, but I have never witnessed a "white" person, except perhaps a troll (and even then they'd probably rather use the N-word), refer to a black person as a "coon".

However, one does not have to go to great lengths in order to witness that word being used by African-Americans on the internet, often in reference to someone that they deem to have "betrayed their race".
