Sure like I said, war could happen over something like that and its not that abstract a thought as there are already disputes over water supply in the world like between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan over the Nile River. But like I said, I think its more likely that states collapse into civil war than fight each other. If not a civil war then proxy wars where each side supports some insurgent group against the other.

Maybe I have too much faith in the current international system's ability to prevent a war between states but that's how I see it.

So even for rip that was a bridge too far.
Sadly, I think when push comes to shove, people won't hesitate to push and shove.

Does anyone else feel like the US flag kinda.....sucks something awful?

Our flag is pretty noticeable, i'd have to see what you consider better tbh.

The national anthem though, pure AIDS. As soon as someone pointed out to me that it was a goofy ass drinking song, I couldn't help but devalue it.

Keep in mind, heretic was in disbelief that people have vehement opinions on the civil war and jim crow.

I live in the south. Those confederate flags aren't just a fashion accessory lol.

Cool.

I mean, you're not convincing me, but cool.

I don't care to convince anybody.

The only reason I'm here, is to gain information from people who do reside at the ground level, in the US and other countries. To understand their perspective is more important than reading some newspaper's take on the subject.

If you don't think that my "expertise" is up to the task, that's one thing. But from what I saw, you were presenting some pretty half-assed reasons as to why people should disregard my opinion.

If I did the same to you, I doubt you'd be any more delighted about it than I was.

Show me an artistically impressive flag. Look what France and Italy came up with. And those are artistic hot spots of the world.

"Meh, I guess three big stripes will do."

Went to my first black tie gala. The Audobon Institute does their yearly fundraiser down here.

Red Head Redemption 2 out there looking for the perfect cougar pelt.

Also I've been busy. What's all this drama about?

If you didn't care to convince me, why do the logical underpinnings of how I feel about your opinion matter?

Your passive need for validation betrays your investment. When I say I don't give a shit, I mean it. Hence the firebombs I regularly lob around the joint.

I think this rule conforms to the Republican/white conservative ethos of it's worse to call someone a racist than it is to be a racist.

Along those same lines, it's worse to call someone a rapist than to be a rapist.

Calling posters racist obviously has been and is allowed. There are certain things we’ve tried to shut down that are mostly mentioned in the guidelines. Accusations like a poster being a murderer,:eek::eek::eek:phile, rapist or some type of severe crime that can’t be backed up is going to be taken down. The general rule of thumb with anything here is attack a persons ideas. That likely would get you out of any possible with flaming that I could think of.

And based on my experiences actually living in the country, it's a racist term used quite liberally by older white people in "polite company".

So is there any wonder that a Finn on the internet might not have the depth to influence my experiences living in the American south? Furthermore, might you reconsider that your "online research" failed you due to y'know, not living here?
You're talking to a guy that, and i'm only slightly paraphrasing, said a black person would have had to be schizophrenic to worry about lynching in the 1950s.

You need to stop deleting non-memes and calling them memes, @Lead.

I’m not going to get into this subjective line of who’s picture with words joke is allowed or not. That will cause way to much bias. You guys keep saying you don’t like the meme thread cause of who frequents it. Just tag the people you’d like to see the meme maybe.

That's the quote from the scene. It's not a fucking meme. There is no grey area.

I posted a good one yesterday, but it got deleted :(
Some memes are too good for the meme thread

There are fine memes on both sides and they can remain in the meme thread. I’m getting confirmation on whether we really need to enforce it in the lounge.
