Ok there is a lot here so I’ll probably miss or take things out of context but let me try to catch up

GSP vs BJ not Anderson: Not comparable. After GSP lost to Hues the first time (which we all know was nerves and a white belt bjj mistake made on his second UFC match), Dana was supposed to give him a rematch after the trig and sherk fights but called up GSP and said and I quote “I hate BJ, you got to fight him, you are going to be my fucking assasin”. The eye gouge performance gave BJ enough cred to rematch when GSP had the belt.

So it was not a move up in weight, BJ was in the division, hats off to him for that of course.

GSP was not small for WW at the time, I agree, a bit bigger than average, again, at the time. I don’t blame him for not moving up. There are weight classes for a reason. We can all see what happened to our heros who ignored this. Hindsight I wish Sak had not fought such massive foes all the time.

GSP fought at MW way after Anderson was even relevant and after a long lay off. Most people were giving Bisping the better odds, so the fight is only a positive for GSP, again does not belong in the Anderson conversation.

Also he destroyed KOS twice, even that one round he lost on 2 judges’ cards was arguable super close.

Dan Hardy, no GSP was trying for the sub, Hardy had crazy defense. It was fn insane.

And finally Khabib can suck a dick until there is way more data on him for a meaningful comparison. :)

Peace out

George Bless!!!!!
He did get his ass kicked by Johny and was gifted a decision. That's all I got, I was so wrong on the Bisping fight.

Khabib needs at least one more top level fight before we start talking GSP level for him. The importance of beating Conor has been a little exaggerated if we're being honest instead of being Conor marks. A win over Conor is like a win over Ferguson, rather than being like a win over Anderson Silva.

Sure a beat up and tired GSP had a tough night against a challenger with the MO. He retired after that fight so I am sure he was as unimpressed with his performance as we all were. Agree 100% on the Connor thing, but many wins are often 1 part kudos and 1 part exposure of the loser, so I don’t to underplay it to much, it’s a solid peg.

And many people were wrong on the Bisping fight, so it’s ok, you can all fuck off :).

A win over Ferguson means much more than a win over Conor. Conor is 1-1 in the UFC LW division while Tony Ferguson is 14-1. Conor has 11 fights in the UFC, Tony has won 11 fights in a row. Ferguson isn't just any other contender, he's the contender at LW and really in all of the UFC. No one in any other division deserves a title shot like Tony does.

I can't really gripe about that considering his record. Was it the layoffs or Mike Goldberg screaming El Cucuy so unnecessarily, or his meh personality that causes him to be downplayed? His record is sick.

Outside the cage he's a cringey Conor knock off and yeah, the lay offs don't help him either. So far he has one of the best records of anyone in the UFC who has never won an undisputed title though.

Hmm, somebody trained a tri-star methinks

I dunno. I've been saying Khabib is arguably p4p No. 1 (not counting Jones) since Johnson. And Conor was a two-division champ. He might not be better than Ferguson, but he was a fuck of a lot better than Alves, Kos, or Fitch.

I think his two division accomplishment is a little exaggerated. Aldo wanted to try for the LW belt for a while but the UFC wouldn't let him without stripping him of the FW. That's fair to an extent given Aldo's inactivity but the point is the opportunity was denied him.

Beating Aldo is a huge win for Conor but he never defended his belt and neither did Eddie so its not like we were necessarily seeing a time tested FW champ against a time tested LW champ. Very different from DC vs Stipe. DC may have lost to Jones but he defended the belt against some legit contenders and of course Stipe did as well. That was more of a legit champ vs champ fight.

Okay, let's cut the bullshit and get to the gooey center of this ordeal.

Does GSP pronounce his name like "George" as in "George Bush" or with soft J sounds like "Jacques"? Or is there only one soft J sound like "Jordsh."

Carlos Condit syndrome. Not enough of an asshole during asshole appreciation month.

This is a huge heel turn for Jack. The Mir thing makes sense to me but this.... wut?

I don't know if it's heelish, but I've been saying Khabib is arguably the LW GOAT and the current p4p No. 1 for a couple of years now so it's not a turn.

That was the only heel turn reference I could think of in pro wrestling, although i know there are many ones that are probably better.

Maybe heel isn't the right word.

All I think is happening here is you are putting a lot more value in this current LW division compared the two eras of the past WW division which P4P ranking wise is fair game and mostly why I think P4P is too subjective and usually becomes a pointless designation. For example, I find it hard to use that reasoning and then also mention Johnson as a #1 P4P previously. Are you saying Khabib's competition has been better than DJ's too? That might make this more understandable to me but again, P4P stuff is just bleh.

Both Hughes wins, and both BJ wins are better than this Conor win.

I don't get too hung up on p4p. Just using it to illustrate that we're talking about a guy who is kind of beyond just the best fighter in his division and maybe the best in any division. I was always somewhat skeptical of DJ, BTW.

IMO, current LW is much better than Alves/Fitch/Kos-era WW.

When I googled Shawn Micheals heel turn, it tries to finish my search with 1997, 1992, 2005, 2013. And I'm sure they all look fairly similar:
