I don't think I've seen Eugenicist since AviatorShades, and it's been longer for DrSatanDracula. They both had a lot of accounts though.

Man, you used to post in here from 08-10 right? I just remember the troll accounts were out of control back then.. left and right wing. I used to post in the WR daily during those years and now it seems like there aren't as many. Of course the mods in here do a better job of getting rid of the trash nowadays.

I always wonder if some of those guys like Badassho, Kerabatsos, BusDriver, Ultimo Hombre, Jigga, smasheroffaces, etc are still around.

Pretty far removed.

Although If we're talking forum nostalgia, I look back with rose tinted glasses to when the discussion was primarily the likes of Polynikes and Massgrunt pimping the war in Iraq versus Das Uberdog, Evil Eye Gouger and others (with the occasional CT cameo from Gotti McCarran or Happeh).
I'm certainly hoping it doesn't take half a decade to get past the current trend in identity politics.

What makes a troll? Someone with extreme views? I don’t know what a war room troll looks like tbh. I know what a troll in the OT is. Really though, who cares if someone trolls? If you don’t like what they say, skip their posts.

Trolls are entertaining to me. They are to be laughed at, not taken seriously. If Im having a serious discussion and doing me asshat chimes in, I don’t get pissed. I either ignore them or give them a stupid reply. But the idea that I get so rattled that I have to notify a mod or complain to the management over words typed by strangers here is beyond my comprehension.

Now, if a mod see something’s by that they think is inappropriate and they take action, fine. But the idea that I’m so upset that I feel the need to call them is sad.

With regard to the harm of trolls (or just shitty bad-faith posters in general), some of us consider issues of public policy to be extremely important: to the retention and improvement of human lives, to the survival of society, to the continued viability of our very planet. Furthermore, even without being so forward-looking, some of us are really interested in learning more about issues and learning through interaction with others - lord knows I've learned plenty from posters several posters, from Rod1, to panamaican, to Ruprehct, and countless others. The common characteristic between those posters isn't ideology: it's maturity and interest in good faith discussion, not mindlessly derailing discussions, obfuscating issues, and seeking to undermine one's perceived opponents at all costs without any actual regard for the topic at hand.

And, as far as the prerogative of the moderators or administrators, the fact is that long-term posters here come here to talk about issues. When a few childish morons spam threads and clog up the board with nonsense, it makes the place less enjoyable, and those serious posters might post less or leave altogether. And when those serious posters leave, so will the childish morons whose very existence was only predicated on annoying them. And then the board dies.

These are just words on a message board. It kills me how serious this is to do many people. Serious enough that they get mad in real life. They actually notify people about words typed by strangers.

Guy, some posters I respect have spoken kindly of you, so I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but this post? This post is insanely ironic considering half of your posts in this thread have been telling strangers about how @HomerThompson told on you and what a bad guy he is for doing so. And the other half has been expressing outrage at the fact that some of those strangers have little yellow pixels next to their name and that others don't, regardless of the fact that the former group behaves entirely differently than the latter (and are so angered by the easily observable rationale for the difference that you would be obtuse enough to force through a shameless race analogy). So you take this place as seriously as the persons you're deriding: just on the basis of personal feelings, rather than discussion quality.

I actually ran into him on another forum, and some of the guys from the War Room Warriors met up with him I believe.
Funnily enough he was actually well to the left of the current Israeli political establishment.
Had some real life events which dragged him away from the Sherdog hasbara.

We had some really good debates in like 2009-2010. We disagreed vehemently, but he was intelligent and very well read.

We had a really good back and forth about the Gaza Flotilla Raid in 2010.
