With regard to the harm of trolls (or just shitty bad-faith posters in general), some of us consider issues of public policy to be extremely important: to the retention and improvement of human lives, to the survival of society, to the continued viability of our very planet. Furthermore, even without being so forward-looking, some of us are really interested in learning more about issues and learning through interaction with others - lord knows I've learned plenty from posters several posters, from Rod1, to panamaican, to Ruprehct, and countless others. The common characteristic between those posters isn't ideology: it's maturity and interest in good faith discussion, not mindlessly derailing discussions, obfuscating issues, and seeking to undermine one's perceived opponents at all costs without any actual regard for the topic at hand.

And, as far as the prerogative of the moderators or administrators, the fact is that long-term posters here come here to talk about issues. When a few childish morons spam threads and clog up the board with nonsense, it makes the place less enjoyable, and those serious posters might post less or leave altogether. And when those serious posters leave, so will the childish morons whose very existence was only predicated on annoying them. And then the board dies.

Honestly, you want to know what the epitome of a War Room troll is? I know because I've done it plenty of times in the past.. and it's easy for me to do being a libertarian that doesn't like Republicans and Democrats.

It's the person who makes argument for or against things they don't care about just to get a rise out of the opposite political spectrum. They could do it to a liberal one day and a conservative the next...Or will make one off comments that they don't necessarily believe but will most definitely be unpopular and cause and argument. The ones with real cardio will keep arguing the point with someone even though they don't believe most of what they're typing.
