lol is trump quoting the Stones at this presser?
"The G7 is shattered, they're in tatters..."

Pathetic level 100: the right wing pearl clutching in the story of that Republican POS dying from coronavirus.

If you're a liberal white woman and you have the audacity to not think black and brown people are evil monsters, you deserve to get raped and killed overseas. But if you're a salt of the earth conservative rube disregarding government orders and the statements of experts to endanger thousands of innocent people and you die from the virus you refused to believe in, it's a serious tragedy that cannot be politicised.

Hm. Renting around North Hollywood is cheaper than I thought.

I've been missing California a lot lately. Although when I lived there I found it funny my nickname everywhere was "Okie" considering how Californians treated people from Oklahoma in the past lol.

Anyone thought about buying flights for late in the year while they're cheap? I realize that's a bit of a gamble these days lol.

I wouldn't. The wife and I are lucky we've been refunded by being given a credit for some flights we had booked, but who know's if this will still be a thing months from now.

a lava cooked Trump burger sounds intense.

Love the Trump cutout rolling up the sleeves. Would be hard to eat there though with that staring at you, talk about intimidating while trying to eat in peace.

Yeah valid point, I was thinking buying for November or something. I was actually considering subletting my apartment this summer and going to LA until September but that obviously isn't going to pan out.

I realize you're an American abroad but what do you think of Quebec?

Ahh fuck now I can't unsee it....

As in the city? A nice place with beautiful European architecture. People are not the nicest though.

As in the whole province, well they are leeches who don't give back much.

They receive much more than anybody through 'equalization payments'

Still I can't hate though, I have a lot of family who live In Quebec, and my grandma on my dads side is half french Canadian. One more thing to enrage people about me I guess.

You're thinking of leaving than land of Gun n' Gumbo for the Poo Street State? You have gigs and oppertunities lined up there?

I believe the scholarly consensus is that Judaism adapted to Zoroastrianism to some degree after the Persian conquest, and not that Judaism came from it.

Could be misremembering though.

Yeah, there's some sort of link. What you mentioned may have been it.

I just remember learning that Zoroastrianism was actually the first monotheistic religion and that it may have influenced the earliest forms of Judaism.

Left me like <TheWire1>

I have to disagree on the basis of how strict The Law is in the Jewish tradition. Contrast, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth," and "If an enemy smite thy cheek, turn the other to him also," for example. Jesus replaced the 10 commandments with 2, and one of them was the golden rule.

I think we'd have to be experts in religion to determine which religion emphasizes certain beliefs more than the others. Yeah, we know about turning the other cheek thing because we live in a Christian society but I'm sure similar edicts exist for the other ones.

I mean, since we're all discussing religion, I looked up Zoroastrianism and low and behold, even it has some very peaceful Golden Rule-style principles:

For Zoroaster, by thinking good thoughts, saying good words, and doing good deeds (e.g. assisting the needy, doing good works, or conducting good rituals) we increase the force of asha in the world and in ourselves, celebrate the divine order, and we come a step closer on the everlasting road to Frashokereti.

Mmmmm, not so sure about that. Basically all religions have some version of the Golden Rule, even the ancient ones. I really don't think Christianity was unique in this matter.

It may have been unique in its focus on the oppressed and downtrodden though. Prior to Constantine converting, Christianity was the religion of the persecuted. Of course, it then slowly became the persecutors.

Wut? Islamic forays into southern Europe (by this time, most of Iberia was already re-conquered by Christians) is what caused mostly French and English knights to invade Muslim land? That's absolutely laughable. The Crusades was an act of aggression by one imperialist group towards another imperialist group.

And I don't know what you mean by Judaism "coming out on top." Their numbers have always been far, far smaller than the other two, and the level of persecution they've experienced (especially from Christians) has been greater than anything the other two experienced. Doesn't sound like they're on top at all.

The reason the people from one branch of Judaism are unusually well-off is because they've had very different religious goals from the other two. Christianity and Islam have been proselytizing from the beginning. Their mission was always to convert as many people as possible and to win as many souls as possible for their god.

But Judaism is an ethno-religious group. They're not out trying to convince people that theirs is the true faith. They're the chosen people and that's it. They allow converts but the vast majority of its adherents get there through ancestry. So their numbers have always been far smaller and they've built up solidarity between themselves.

Ahhh, Christian victimhood and paranoia about Jews running the world. White nationalists are gonna white nationalist, I guess. Never change, Sketch.

Solid post

The only thing I would add is that this enthno religious group was transnational by definition. Then they are allowed to be in banking, when the local population is not and you have all you really need to launch the protocols of Zion BS. Small transnational ethno religious group that hits above its weight in per capital intellectuals in all fields including finance, add some leaders searching for scape goats and the Jew hive lizard people are here.
