Wanderlei Silva gets lifetime ban

No precedence for this. Should have warned fighters that from now on if you refuse a test you will be banned for life.

Lol, no way Jose.

If you run you’re done.

Wand knew somehow and the day before he got the hammer he quit.

That’s probably the real reason for the crocodile tears.

And he can cut that diuretics nonsense, what concoction was really in his system?

We may never know, unless he decides to tell the truth (highly unlikely).

Lying till the bitter end.

Not cool Wand, not cool at all.

Second time he's been run out of the UFC. Wand is 0-2 against the UFC. He needs to step up his game.

I think it's obvious by now that NSAC takes orders from zuffa brass on some level. If it's a fighter zuffa needs to market etc, like vitor in his fight vs chris, or reem, or even multiple offenders like chael, they go easy. Wand pissed off the zuffa brass by badmouthing the company and as a result suffered the worst penalty for something that doesn't even make sense.

he didn't even apply for a license from NSAC. Under what grounds did they have a right to test him?

the quote from people that are happy to allow drug cheaters. Who fucking cares...they caught a cheat.

lol at people saying he doesnt have to pay the fine. wanderlei vs the attorney general sounds like a great fight for him. who do you guys think he is up against? hope he has a lot of money to burn. either his attorney is terrible or just suckering him in for the money.

He wasn't licenced and hadn't signed the bout agreement so I don't see how they could fight him.

why would zuffa want to ban wanderlei? you think wanderlei wanted to stop fighting for the ufc? are you serious? wanderlei said all that shit cause zuffa couldnt bail him out of this. he probably thinks its not a big deal that he ducked the test.

Then what would stop fighters from signing the bout agreement a day before the fight after they've already cycled off?

Nothing, really. But that wouldn't be nearly as bad as the NSAC harassing whoever they want regardless of status and having the authority to take hundreds of thousands of dollars from them.

Lifetime ban from fighting in Nevada? or does this NSAC ban go beyond the borders of the state?

You can't sign a bout agreement a night before a fight. You would have to already be licenced if you are fighting the next day.

Well, we disagree on that point, and also disagree that drug testing fighters trying to avoid drug tests by exploiting loopholes counts as harassment.

It's in Nevada only. It has to be as he wasn't even licenced.

As for the fine, I am sure he won't pay it.

My guess is that most states won't license a fighter who's banned in another state.

he is not going to fight in the US, the commissions usually accept hte decisions from other commissions.

anyway it really doesn't matter as the UFC will not give him a fight any way.

I think he lives in Vegas so he might have to pay if wants to stay or before he leaves the country.

Except Overeem ran and got a second chance to take the test without punishment
Except Wanderlei would have to possess psychic abilities top predict a decision that was completely unprecedented and completely not in line with the way similar situations were handled in the past.

Overeem was told as soon as he ran that if he didn't come back and take the test then he would be in serious trouble....he came back (straight away) and took the test.

Wand was told the same, and ran to brazil.

that is why the situations are different.

according to josh gross they can

i doubt wanderlei isnt the first to get fined like this

He didn't give any reasoning aside form it's the state of Nevada. If he didn't sign an agreement to fight, and he wasn't licenced, they can't make him pay legally. They have no jurisdiction. That would mean they can make me and you pay fines even though we have no bout agreements and aren't licenced.

You think athletes roiding is a bigger issue than government basically having unlimited authority to take as many money as they want from someone? We have fundamental disagreements indeed.
And to answer your question, the NSAC could require athletes to begin the process of ap

They don't have the power to fine anyone they want, and there are also limits as to what they can do in order to pursue payment. In both instances, I would say Wanderlei is out of their jurisdiction.

...and you would be wrong.

Wanderlei fits the state defintion of a Contestant, which puts him under their jurisdiction.
