Wanderlei got a lifetime ban along with a fine of $70,000, which is 35% of the $200,000 purse he would have gotten from the fight. Via Fightpass. NSAC said they needed to send a message by imposing the harshest penalty. Do you agree?

Wand already expected this. In Japan, wand's desk would have been put in the corner of the office.

They're still deliberating the fine amount at this point.

Do they even have the ability to fine him? unlike Chael he's not actually under licence is he and unlikely to ever be so again.

lifetime ban....wow. The bald man was right after all

No precedence for this. Should have warned fighters that from now on if you refuse a test you will be banned for life. Should have banned Wand 2 years like Chael. They are setting an example with Wanderlei.

Again....no precedence. Overeem ran and got a 9 month suspension. That is it.

Bullshit decision. Give him 2 years (which is still harsh) at the most and then announce "From this day forward if you run you will have a lifetime ban"

Commission:

Commisioner to Overeem: Overeem, you ran but we like you and you are polite so you only get a 9 month ban.

Commisioner to Wanderlei: Wanderlei, even though there is no precedence we are giving you a lifetime ban for your 1st offense.

Bunch of clowns

Overeem actually ran twice and only got punished once for it (for 9 months)

Not surprising. He ran from a drug screen and now has the audacity to claim this is a "respect" issue, so he retires. He is one of the greatest of his time, but he leaves on a very low note and should be ashamed of his recent actions of trying to make excuses.

Thats why he retired and tried to blame it all on the UFC to deflect away from his shit.

Would have been better off just pissing dirty and taking the year off.

So he can't fight in Vegas anymore? Oh well, doesn't matter, he's retired anyways.

Damn.

That is a shame, he was / is a great fighter and provided a lot of entertainment.
