Wanderlei Silva gets lifetime ban

honesty fuck the nsac.

my loyalty is to wand

let me become a white belt

dana hates wand due to that shocking video and dana paid the commission to ban him

Not surprising. He ran from a drug screen and now has the audacity to claim this is a "respect" issue, so he retires. He is one of the greatest of his time, but he leaves on a very low note and should be ashamed of his recent actions of trying to make excuses.

I don't think you know what "audacity" means. I think it's more likely he rolled the two into one, using the opportunity of a retirement speech to also slam the UFC and Dana for their treatment of fighters. I also think the UFC had a part to play in the NSAC's ruling, maybe because they didn't back Wand or give him the support he asked for. He probably felt betrayed and further thrown under the bus by the UFC after all he's done to help them be a successful company.

It's funny, I was always told, "It's better to refuse a drug test than to fail".

Apparently that's not the case.. Vitor fails a drug test and gets a title shot, Wand refuses and gets banned for life, logic at it's finest.

Fighters (like most athletes) need to learn when its time to get out while they are ahead. Lots of guys stay around too long and end up going out on low notes.

Do they even have the ability to fine him? unlike Chael he's not actually under licence is he and unlikely to ever be so again.

I'm thinking this. Prob has to pay IF he ever attempts to get licence in NV again. And prob nowhere in US will give him one while issue is outstanding.

Wand can still fight in other countries. lol

Brazil follows the NSAC, I think.

He can always fight in the land of the rising sun, I guess, where the competition is easier and there are no men in lab coats knocking on your door.

Wanderlei got a lifetime ban along with a fine of $70,000, which is 35% of the $200,000 purse he would have gotten from the fight. Via Fightpass. NSAC said they needed to send a message by imposing the harshest penalty.

That is really disgraceful, a bunch of suit and ties leaving a black spot, on one of the most important figures of the sport.
While they were snorting coke and banging high end prostitutes, the man was giving his blood and sacrificing his health for a sport that wouldn't be shit without people like him.
Its a travesty.

The nsac sucks, but i think you have the wrong idea about the socio-economic class of its commissioners.

Ban? Eh, okay.

The fine is absolutely ridiculous though.

He wasn`t sacrificing shit. He was getting paid, and pretty handsomely.

Government officials are paid pretty handsomely too, only difference is you don't get to choose whether or not to pay for their service.

I'm thinking this. Prob has to pay IF he ever attempts to get licence in NV again. And prob nowhere in US will give him one while issue is outstanding.

They gave him a lifetime ban, so he can never even attempt to get licensed in NV. So any fine they try to impose on him is pretty meaningless, and hilarious.

This lifeban bullshit is only because he retired and so UFC didn't pressure the AC..

Chael did much worse and got caught several times and didn't even get a lifetime ban.
