Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Three

41 year old Chris Gomez defeats Seante Williams by round 3 TKO due to ground and pound.

Williams should really stick to kickboxing/muay thai, his ground game unfortunately isn't serviceable.
 
John Hawk defeats Curt Lemmon by 5 round unanimous decision. Hawk has beat all contenders from Ohio lately it seems. A fight with Shaun Asher would be a good future Ohio fighters bout. Jeff Hughes is an option as well, however I'm not holding onto high hopes that Hughes will beat Leviticus Roberson in two weeks.

Lemmon's an overweight 205lb'er, for me. He's only what, 5ft 10in...going the 5 rounds with Hawk is an indicator he's a tough SOB though, drop some weight, get down to 205 and see where you land.

Asher is very decent, but he's old as hell, what, 36 or something? Its now or never for SHaun, if he fights and beats Hawk, maybe he gets a last-minute UFC call.

Lemmon is an overweight 155'er. :icon_chee

Asher vs Hawk is more of a regional MMA geek matchup for me, both Asher and Hawk are past their UFC age in my mind. Bellator perhaps, although Asher didn't fair well in his Bellator stint.

Jani Istvan interests me actually, I haven't seen enough of him to really make a good judgement, but I'm keeping an eye on him.

Talk about a step up in competition, that was a giant leap. Have you heard if Jani Istvan fought in FFC in Bosnia and Herzegovina and if so what the results were? I can't find if he actually did fight.

Tough first fight for Yosef, I hope he can pull it off. Staring and Barnett are tough matches for the younger guys.

I would normally go with Rodrigues, but every time I pick a HW prospect from Brazil lately they lose, so I'll go with Rea based off that string of misfortunes.

Barnett should crush Zahariev, Zahariev just beats up on regional guys, and is a natural 205'er.

Finally I'll go with Minowa. First, because Oli has terrible submission defense, and second, because it's Minowa.

We'll see how things go, I'm excited for this tournament though.

Can someone explain me why Marvin tybura and Damian grabowsky aren't signed by the ufc ? Because I find it crazy. The ufc hw division is diying right now and these guys are pretty good. They have the level. It can't only be because they still have fights left on thei contracts. Come on if it wanted the ufc would overcome this easily with money.

I mean mitrione is top 10 on sherdog now and the guys are rematching each other like forever. Isn't it time for fresh blood ?

I could say the same for lhw and Stephan puetz.

Cause all of them are under contract with M-1.

they fought each other ONCE. "rematching like crazy" really? such a zuffa schill but to answer your question it's nearly impossible to get out of an M-1 contract and they appear to be happy there. Not everyone even half decent has to be in the ufc.
