UNDISPUTED is the new Fight Night

Rather than getting my hopes up for this being the 2nd coming of the Fight Night series, and those hopes probably being unfulfilled... I figured 'May was well buy Fight Night Round 4.'

Its pretty easy to find cheap used copies on Ebay.

Edit - Would like to add, if Undisputed does exceed expectations I'll happily purchase it as well, but its looking doubtful that will be on launch day. It appears like there will be many updates over the next several months after it drops.

on xbo360? I'll jam it.

Just want to comment about Fight Night Round 3&4, and how it became my 'chess' and all other fighting games have been checkers in comparison.

Growing up in the 90s my two favorite franchises were Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter and my favorite movies were Martial Arts flicks like Bloodsport and Bruce Lee films.

Then I got into MMA in the early-to-mid 2000s and realism in combat has had a higher priority to me. And Fight Night Round 3&4 seemed like it used real boxing fundamentals as gameplay mechanics. Rather than just spamming special moves and combos you're using real strategy over the course of 12 rounds instead of two or three rounds that last just a few seconds to a minute.

SInce then I've played MK9&X... and while they were fun and I got my money's worth out of them... they didn't 'hook' me the way the Fight Night series had, because they were 'checkers' while Fight Night 3&4 were 'chess.'

While I'm a huge MMA fan (its the only sport I watch) I've never bothered to play a UFC game because I've never felt its possible to even come close to replicating the various strategies in MMA into a videogame, and as far as I've seen of EA's UFC games that's been 100% accurate.

And... I guess I've gotten my hopes up for Undisputed to basically be Fight Night Round 5, and it looks like those hopes are going to be unfulfilled. But weirdly, I'm hyped to play Round 4 when it arrives in the mail.

QFT re Fight Night 3 and 4. Still today by far the best fighting games I've played. The MMA games haven't quite hit the spot yet and I don't know if they ever will, tbh

Really??? When did that happen??? I swear Ii tried it a few years ago and it didn't work

Only Fight Night Champion is BC, 3 + 4 aren't

Fuck.... well I learned the hard way that the XBox360 Disc doesn't play on the SeriesX.

I searched for 'Does XBox360 Discs Play On SeriesX' and saw 'Yes' and figured that ALL discs play on SeriesX... wasn't aware that only a few select titles actually do play.

But what pisses me off is Fight Night Champion is backwards compatable.... but Fight Night Round 3&4 don't?

<31>
That is absolute bullshit.

And I still have my PS4Pro, and did a search if I buy a PS3 copy would play on it.... nope.

And I double-checked if Round 4 is on the XBox Marketplace.... nope.

<{katwhu}>

I'm not one of those gamers that typically demand backwards-compatability for ALL games, but I'm absolutely shocked they've shut out both backwards compatability for modern consoles AND its not available to purchase and download digitally.

I agree, my biggest issue with the UFC games was how high the finish rate is. Which I get to some extent because grappling and striking have to be simplified to fit on one controller. But you didn't get the ebbs and flows you could get over entire matches in Fight Night.

Thank you for confirming my impressions, which were based on limited info. Just watching a bit of gameplay rather than actually playing a game itself.

I can imagine a kickboxing game, using the similar systems as Fight Night... but implimenting convincing takedowns, grappling, and submissions/chokes? No chance.

The mini-games in the UFC games for grappling and submissions have always looked... well.. the fact they're minigames is all that needs to be said.

Yeah you've also just missed the shut down of the 360 store / marketplace too

For future ref use these for now for searching for any Backwards Compatible titles

Note the date of these tweets, from 5 months ago. Posting it because it went under the radar.

Bet EA is going to be paying close attention to the sales figures of Undisputed.

I still have my 360 so I'm good to go. But I fired up Champion.. I restarted the story mode cos I could never beat Frost. I tried to make my way through the Champion level and getting owned. Sod it, just for the sake of trying to complete it, I'm going to give it a shot at the lowest level and if I can't do it now, it's all on me

That story mode was so lame. <lmao>
