This is a huge misnomer imo. He did have an iron chin but I don’t think that was a huge factor in his success. Khabib barely got hit clean. He had a very awkward herky jerky style of defense, combined with the takedown threat it basically made him a nightmare to strike against. You can count the number of clean punches he took with one hand. People really forget how dominant he was lol.
It gave him the confidence to wade in that other guys don't have. He knew even if he got hit clean, he wasn't going down. Hell, the shot from Johnson that slightly tripped is feet up put many other guys out.
You don't even get to show your striking skills against Khabib, his pace and chain wrestling don't let you do that.
See, I think the shot from Johnson is mostly a myth created by Rogan’s exaggerated reaction. Watch it again….Johnson didn’t cleanly hit Khabib and he wasn’t hurt at all, Khabib was moving backwards so it took all the mustard out of the shot. But it’s a good example of what I mean, Khabib got hit so little that the few times he did get exaggerated like crazy.

I dont think he relied on his chin taking shots. He would very much wince and flinch when people threw punches at him when he had to move away from them, like alot of guys who only took up striking later on. Especially in his early fights, but it didnt leave him completley. That being said, the guy has a hell of a chin, but I dont think her overly relied on it. He tried to block everything that he could, so that he would not get hit.
Nah, people have forgotten how dominant Khabib was. Dude was unstoppable. Islam doesn’t even have 10% of Khabib’s top control, which is why guys like Volk and DP are able to hang around with him for 5 rounds. There’s a reason Khabib barely even got any black eyes let alone bleed in the cage. Compare khabib’s performance against DP vs Islam’s. Tells you everything you need to know. DP tried 2 switches against Khabib and got mounted and dominated both times. He tried 1 switch against Islam, got it, then elbowed Islam opening a massive cut. I love Islam but Khabib is in a different league:
No. Khabib would have nothing for Islam in a fight. Not going to sub or ground and pound or out cardio him. Means most of the fight is on the feet, where Islam has a marked advantage.
Islam is better, no chance Khabib finishes on the ground. Islam Will be able to do what other Khabib opponents haven't been able to do....strike freely with zero fear of a takedown coming. And honestly, I even think Islam is the superior grappler. Although it's close.
Khabib is doing more than watch Islam from the sidelines, he's actually investing his life into making sure Islam wins and guiding him to victory. Islam struggled when Khabib wasn't in his corner and said as much.
