Weilli Zhang is going to destroy Valentina. It is going to be a proper beating. Finally, Valentina will face someone properly tough and well-rounded and not a yoga mom. She won't be walling and stalling Weilli. That is for sure.

Valentina/Weili where I think in order for Valentina to win her counter striking has to be on point. Trying to out wrestle and overpower Weili won't work as we saw in the Suarez fight. I do think Weili wins but this fight will likely go the distance.

Prates/Edwards-If Prates can pressure like he normally does in a fight I think Edwards loses. This is a gatekeeper fight for Edwards. Win and he's likely 2 or 3 fights from a title shot. Lose and he likely becomes a top 10 gatekeeper for the rest of his career.

JDM/Islam-Rooting for JDM just because I like JDM's fighting style more and I'm kind of tired of wrestlers overall in the UFC (even though I like Islam). Super close fight and can go either way. I'm going to lean JDM because JDM's boxing is really good and I don't think this fight looks like Chimaev/DDP.

A Champion is a Champion. That's enough proof and enough deservement to step into a title shot with the directly above heavier Champion.

Team Islam’s problem wasn’t title defences, it was Topuria’s lack of wins at LW.

Doesn’t matter either way, if the UFC let you do it, that’s all the deserving anybody needs.

They were several issues, first the fact that he already gave his chance to Volk, twice, a third fight against a FW is too much. The second one was that Topuria only defended once in his division, hence why they wanted him to prove himself first.

Had he accepted that fight, people would be crying that "He only fights FWs", "He's afraid to challenge himself by moving up"...

We have the best LW ever moving up (something that everyone wanted from Khabib) and people are still crying, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

How it works is if the UFC says you can, that’s it.

People have done it with zero defences, or without even winning a belt.

As I recall from this site, many people were complaining loudly that Islam only fought former FWs. Champ vs champ fights only benefit the guy moving up from a lower weight. If the bigger champ wins, it’s expected, so he doesn’t get the same praise.
