UFC 207 - Nunes vs Rousey - Vegas

He didnt slow down against Ortiz (I thought Borg won this fight actually) or Herrera, he was able to maintain a high work rate despite a wrestling heavy approach
The question is, what can Borg do that Nguyen can't do better?

Initial lean; Smolka will do to Borg what he did to Nguyen
Nguyen was a 1 round fighter when Smolka beat him, Borg isn't. Idk where this idea that Borg doesn't have good cardio comes from

They also have very different skillsets (Nguyen and Borg)

Watched some tape on borg and smolka, its an interesting fight borg is a solid grappler, nice take downs and ability to lock in submissions, limited striking though.

Smolka can't help but throw leg kicks during striking exchanges to mix in his take downs, so borg should be able to capitalize here with take downs.

Its still hard to out right favour borg here, he looks calm and a bit too willing to wait for a chance or mistake by his opponent to scramble or reverse position, and those minutes of control look good in the judges eyes.

Should be a fun back and forth match, I don't think one can count smolka out either.

Would rather play prop lines here but they are equally risky, Sub r1-r2 prop ? maybe flyers on borg or smolka split decision props, feels a very close fight.

that was quick, They've changed the cruz unan decision from +275 to +100. Insane drop

what makes you say his back take and rnc are solid? he had a couple before the ufc, and he had that neck crank what, 10 fights ago... i don't know, i also don't know if he could/would try to take lineker down, anyway

Most of his grappling was based off of back takes. He jumps on them even without takedowns. Do you remember when he almost got it on Assuncao in the first fight? That would have submitted most guys.

Again, not like I am saying it's super likely, but it may be really high + odds since he hasn't been grappling lately.

plus wasn't she the one going out doing all these movies while mcgregor turned it down because he wanted to focus on fighting? You just get the idea she's mad at the world coupled with some sort of victim mentality where everyone is out to get her. Whether it will effect her fighting remains to be seen, i guess it could go both ways.
I think she's saying that she learned from the loss. now, after going through what she went through, she realizes that fighting and winning is more important to her than anything that money can bring. I definitely get that. Can't buy a legacy

Takedowns, top control, guard passing, back takes
Smolka's scrambling is top notch, I just wonder if Borg can control him to do all of that. I think if he can't, he doesn't have any other way to win (barring serious improvement under Brandon Gibson)

I can't play Honda based on her mental state. However, looking at Nunes' past losses I am a bit concerned. Losses to Alexis Davis in 2011, Sarah D'Alello in 2013 and Cat Zingano in 2014.

Jeez none of these girls are that great and Honda would have destroyed them back in the day. Honda's fights are so volatile and hard to play for more than a couple units. This shit is unpredictable imo.

I also think Smolka will show up strong as he will be mad at his previous stupid loss.

Holy red flags... Hendricks Oct 20th interview - http://www.espn.com/espnradio/podcast/archive/_/id/16787314

- before the interview he told Okamoto he wanted to disappear and wasn't sure if he wanted to continue fighting, I needed time to refocus, after I left my old management, I stopped caring, I wasn't preparing myself, I quit attacking, my wife told me if I was going to fight like that, to quit, I agreed with her, but I told her I still wanted to fight, she told me I need to train to win, now I'm training like I used to, fighting and family is very hard, I told her I need to be an athlete again, I need to put my career ahead of everything, but I don't like doing that, I wanted to be home, I wanted to be a father, but now I'm down two fights, it's a tough balance, I'm back to Oklahoma state, I was supposed to go to AKA, but it was too hard, I was only training once a day, now I'm training twice a day, I'm a father when I'm home, did a mini camp of 3 weeks, sucks being away, but this is what I go to do, my wife said she'll deal with it, my wife is my number one fan, my marriage means more to me than fighting, I have to make sure she is happy, I told her I had to travel, wrestling the young guys in Oklahoma state, I have to get back to mental aggression, I lost that mindset, I getting back to it, they treat me like a wrestler and they punish me, fighting at 185 would be easier, 175 would be ideal for me, 172, 173 is starts getting hard, I've backed off on the weight training this fight, if we had IV's I could make weight, we're trying to pull my weight down, can't do the water load anymore, I've already started my diet, 2 weeks I might be at 192, last fight I was only a pound over, but my body was running on fumes, it was trying to hold in water, in survival mode, if I lose, I'm done, I might have to say my body doesn't want to do it anymore, I'll find out when I get in there, I believe I'm still the best, I don't want to be 38/40 and still fighting, I don't want to put my wife and kids through it, going away to train and losing, I can't wait to see what I can do

Confidence increase Hendricks imo. At least he realizes hes looking like shit and is trying to fix it

damn confidence incrase after reading that? seems to me like there is too many things on his mind to stay focused and be mentaly strong enough for a fight... only way i would could take that interview as confidence increase is on the day of weight-ins if he looks ripped and ready to go

Confidence neutralized at worse. It's always reassuring when a fighter seemingly on the decline knows it and is trying to figure out how to change it. He's human, has a family, etc. so I'm sure It's a lot to deal with and think about it but if he's back to making serious sacrifices to perform at the highest level he possibly can, I like that. Def still waiting for weigh ins though lol

RR did destroy Cat.

That said i think Nunes improvements are visible. The main concern is always gas tank but is that really gonna matter vs Ronda? I don't see this one lasting that long either way.

Sounds more like he has one foot out the door and wants to eat X-mas turkey and get fat. I'll take the younger, more disciplined, and hungry fighter over the guy whose every pore screams at him to pull a Ricky Hatton.

Hendricks use to own his own restaurant......

No need to wait for weigh ins ;)

I like the overs, split/decision props for that fight
