Crime Tyre Nichols video to be released soon. 5 Memphis cops fired and charged with murder for his death

First of all, you noted that money does not always solve problems. Then you pointed out that officers (who we would assume are the main beneficiaries of a generous budget) are underpaid.
no i didn’t lol i said there’s no amount of money that can fix their problems because their problems are cultural and because of how much money they soak up, the cycle of poverty and crime continues with them just there to keep poor people in line.
But then you immediately suggest we need more money in education which is the poster child of what you are talking about, and that is that more money does not always go directly to the people we think it should go to, and that money itself can only take you so far.
two completely separate departments and issues & i never once suggested the $275M budget for the police was going anywhere but the police. you must have me confused with someone else. i simply said that they are still incompetent even with their insane budget.
Not to mention suggesting funding of vague “mental health” and addiction programs which I don’t see any evidence of working.
mental health & addiction outreach programs, state-funded rehab & other things work everywhere they’re implemented. it’s been tremendously successful in european countries. they aren’t implemented in america because america spends that money on military and police. that’s exactly what i’m talking about.
We need a better system of doing things, it’s pointless to throw the money at a terrible system, it’s just going to become an endless money pit.
then you’re agreeing with me. i’m proposing a change to the system rather than continuing to give exorbitant amounts of money to police because it’s clearly not working.

According to twitter, white officer Hempstead has been terminated

Is this the guy that stood by? If so, fair enough but I also challenge anyone of any race to say they'd front up a rabid, aggressive gang of men not their race and try to stop them.

for those who said there wouldnt be massive protests u were wrong. on saturday the outcry continued in philadelphia.

sunday eagles won. i bet everyone was too busy protesting their outcry on the streets to watch the game or even celebrate the win for the eagles.

This is great news and I hope it continues. I support peaceful protest.

That's what reporting the crime to your bosses or IA is for. I'm gonna guess he didn't do that and instead stayed silent and was content to be an accessory to a murder.

I have been shot at. Bullets went over my head but not by that much. But the odd thing was that my first instinct was laughter and I said to my partner “holy shit, Greg. They’re shooting as us.” Then I drew my gun and a girl ran right into the barrel as she came around the corner. I can’t believe I didn’t accidentally shoot her. The gunman ran off. Then we had a riot to deal with. But the most scared I have ever been was during a high speed chase. The car was stolen and was coming at me the wrong way on the highway. I was weaving back and forth trying to slow down the traffic, but it’s fucking I-70 and a very busy highway. I had another chase like that where the guy was coming at us the wrong direction on another highway and he turned off and went up an entrance ramp. I remember trying to hit the brakes and my legs wouldn’t work. Then, after that was over, I had to swear in at city hall to be a corporal-so this is my fourth year. The adrenaline was making me shake like crazy as I was standing in the front of a crowded room taking my oath.

I still have dreams about not being able to find the brake pedal when I am driving in my dreams and after being shot at, I spent the next few weeks waking up breathing real hard, heart pounding, and shaking. Found out years later I had a good old case of ptsd.
So we're you an Ohio cop, or Pennsylvania?

Re-read your original post because you literally said that money for police would be better off going to education & programs.

It’s not an issue of misinterpretation, it was a two sentence post in plain English.

Don't disagree with this. But personal safety will always take paramount. If you know you're outnumbered and potentially could become the next victim, very few men break that up. 1% of men who are confident they can fight 5 men in hand to hand combat. Potentially not even hand to hand. If this prick didn't even report it, yeah, fuck him. But I ain't demonising him for not entering the fray physically.

An initial police report filed in the hours after the Tyre Nichols traffic stop suggested he was violent and made claims that were contradicted by video later released by police

The initial police report said Nichols “started to fight” with officers and at one point grabbed one of their guns. But neither claim was substantiated by police videos released last week.

And despite the fact that the videos don’t appear to show Nichols fighting back, the report identified Nichols as a suspect in an aggravated assault.

The report also listed E. Martin as a “victim.” One of the five officers charged with second-degree murder in Nichols’ death is Emmitt Martin III.

He was the asshole that screamed at him, dragged him out of the car iirc and tasered him. Then he said “I hope they smash him.” Fuck him as well. I am trying to find an actual article and can’t so maybe that was just twitter being twitter.

they get a billion dollars every 3 years. no amount of funding is going to solve their problems. less cops = less interactions with cops = less murder by cops. reroute the new amount of funding into worthwhile ventures like mental health/addiction support & education.

So we just pretend those cops aren't needed in crime filled cities. Yeah ok.

While we're covering the issue of defund the police.

It needs to be taken into account there were officers subduing and killing unarmed citizens before and still after

Ok? Bad cops and bad interactions are never going to completely vanish. Did the defund movement help? No.

Also saying "unarmed" means nothing. Unarmed does not mean not dangerous.

Absolute cunt then. Wish nothing but the worst of punishment for him

Oh quit. You know as well as I do this real situation is full of both. People blaming the system instead of the cops who beat the guy. People acting all shocked that 5 black cops would beat up another black guy implying that it makes the guy's death that much worse. His death is horrible enough as it is. No need to add layers and caveats where they're not needed.

I'll repeat what you whine about earlier, grifters don't help solve any of these issues.

Oh please. Hop off that high horse. I was pretty clear about why they weren't answered.

Since you seem to need validated read on for answers.

Their community. Voters. Their superiors. If they won't then keep moving up the chain of command until you no longer need to do so.

Please point out where I said they shouldn't?

So your first thought here is how you'd want to get paid for losing a family member? Sounds exactly like a grifter's first thoughts to me.

Dude this is all on camera. I'm sure an average lawyer could handle this without any issues. Stop acting like Ben Crump is some legal scholar that's going to solve society's issues. You make enough noise people are bound to pay you to be quiet.
So I don't agree with any of your framing of the public outcry. I think your takes are pretty poor and do not speak to what people are truly saying about the situation.

You speak as if you have no understanding as to how civil damages work. Lol at classifying holding people financially responsible as "proof" for your grift x10000000 talking point.

Ben Crump is more of a legal scholar than you. He has done more to help the victims in these situations than some guy crying grift online.

Also, who the hell do you think you are to be able to tell the victims of this tragedy who they shouldn't work with??? Sounds like you're the one on a high horse, and a delusional one at that.

i didn’t say money can’t solve problems. i said money won’t fix cops. big difference. you clearly misinterpreted.

cops don’t prevent crime. education, legal financial opportunity, and mental health/addiction support do. see: every other country but america.
